re: Vaccination: Researching the Issue

Supposedly, however, no vaccines last, the immunity protection wanes over time. That's why they recommend boosters. Hep B boosters at 10, then 21 and I can't remember after that. It's just like Gardasil in my mind.

I hear if you catch wooping cough, you have immunity for like 30 years, just 3 with the vaccine.

Right, natural immunity lasts sooooo much longer. And it's safer. The whooping cough vaccine scares me. Especially with all the new studies done. And I am bias as I am almost certain it created my RA.

When I was little I had a bad reaction to a flu shot. I decided I didn't want to risk it with my daughter, and after reading more about it decided I would go vaccine free. My daughter is now 12, VERY healthy and only had the flu once, she was 2 and I had it to, didn't slow her down at all but I was on my butt for a week! So I have another on the way. I am still antivaccine. My SO on the other hand is NOT and I am not sure how that is going to play out once the baby is here honestly...
But what changes have they made as far as laws go and vaccinating? Is it still an option to refuse them due to personal beliefs? While I had a reaction, I have no doctor notes to back up my daughter having problems with them, it was just cautionary. Which religions are against vaccinating?

All religions can be against vaccinating. YOu are in Colorado, so you have all 3 exemptions, medical, philosophical and religious   What information have you shared with your SO? I would start attempting to get him educated NOW. If he wants the child vaccinated, he can vaccinate without your consent. Also, if he were to take you to court, he could get the court to force you to vaccinate, if god forbid something were to happen with you guys.

Yeh I cried myself to sleep last night thinking he might go behind my back to do it or god forbid the second scenario you mentioned, which was also running through my head. He asked what was wrong and I tried explaining it to him..I've never been in this situation before. I was always the only parent with my first child, my decision was the only decision. I'm not sure I like the idea of someone else having a say over my baby, regardless who it is >.>

My son just turned 3 and so far has had no vaccinations. We were going to start at age 2 but decided to hold off some more.. now that he is 3 we are thinking about starting the vaccines. If so, we want to do it slow only 1 or 2 at a time.

Anyone know how we go about it, which ones to start off with? Do we ask the doctor which he thinks we should start off with? (as long as it's no more then 1 or 2)
Advice would be great.

I would have his titers checked first. Although a lot of time it doesn't give a true sense of their natural immunity, most kids have built natural immunity by 4. Then go from there. Bad news is, it's too "costly" for the vaccine manufacturers to make single vaccines so they do not offer many any more. Combo vaccines are becoming the norm so it's next to impossible to get JUST the single vaccines. Even getting a tetanus shot includes diptheria and whooping cough an there really isn't a way around it in most cases.

I've been very lucky.. we move alot cause my husbands in the military and his last doctor never asked any questions about him being vaxed or not ever. Well we moved now and he has a new doctor so I am very nervous about what his reaction will be. But I'm hoping he's understanding. And I will defanitly stand my ground. I just hate conflict.

I just wanna share, Liam is almost 8 months. Never been vaxed and he has never been sick. Not even an ear infection.

All the other little ones in my family and friends babies have all been vaxed and they seem to get sick a lot/have ear infections.

I dont know if he takes after me though, I NEVER get sick.

I just think its so crazy.
