re: Vaccination: Researching the Issue

posted 30th Oct
I refused the Hep B vax for Ezra when he was born, and my birth plan and the hospital records support that I declined it. However, the Oregon alert system that vaccine providers report to indicates that he was administered the shot on the day after his birth.

Does that mean he got it? The records are contradictory.

Idk but this scares me..now I'm worried my son got it and that was why it was hard to get him to eat at first...  but I'm paranoid....hopefully it was just a typo!

Hello! Question, I am hoping someone in here knows this answer as I find very mixed information from google. Has anyone in Texas refused the erythromycin goo crap in their newborns and actually gotten away with it? Also, has anyone done the vitamin k drops instead of shot?

I told them no vit k here in iowa, SO got them on camera injecting it anyway.

Unfortunately, there could be a very good chance he was if he ever left your sight. It is so routine for them to be given to every newborn that it is often accidentally done if it isn't charted already   A lot of hospitals I have heard don't even ask for a consent form to be signed until AFTER it's done. Bleh, if I ever have another I will go insane guarding them with my life with all the crap I have heard happening now.

I was talking with someone who is a nurse in the nursery and she said she's never in her 10 years of working there ever even heard of the drops instead of injection. I find it on google, just wondering if that's something just not available in Texas.

They told me since he didn't even have a pediatrition at the time they weren't allowed to do shots....Does this make sense? He had an on call pediatrition...I remember them having me sign something when they told me that but I was so drugged I can't even remember.

I signed a refusal waiver. Probably after the fact.

Yeah, he did leave my sight. Once. My husband went with him to go get his hearing test, and he said the nurse took him around a corner for a second.

Would they really be that sneaky? I'm so sick and uneasy over this. People injecting substances into children against the specific request of the parents. Ugh.

Unfortunately, yes. They are jerks. I have heard it happening time and time again. Sometimes it's a simple error, other times I think it's nurses being smurfs and doing it just to do it against the parents wishes because they think they will save a baby from an STD

BUT, I wouldn't stress. There isn't anything you can do about it now. He is still here, and alive, and though I cannot imagine how pissed I would be, you cannot change anything that did happen, if it did. Don't make yourself sick over it *hugs*

Thank you.   As far as I can tell he is in perfect health. I just wish his little body could have had the chance at more than one single day toxin-free.

Can anyone please give me a link for unbiased vaccine info???

I'm trying to present info to my SO bc I want to selectively VBAC and therefore I feel my DD wont need the hep b or vitamin k shots upon birth. His argument (he has done no research) is that "doctors are smarter than us and if everyone else is given them, then we need to get them for our daughter too".

That's not a good enough reason for me (I've done research) to give my baby just any old shot for no reason. So I want some unbiased facts to show him.
