I'm expecting my first child in December and will not be vaccinating. Growing up, my husband and I both received all vaccines and never really thought about them; we just thought vaccines were good without considering it.

Now that we're expecting, it suddenly seems very important to research everything that will be put into our child's body -- especially when it's expected that children receive as many as TWENTY SIX inoculations by the time they're two! We went into the issue neutrally and purely for the sake of being informed about it. We read everything we could -- including academic articles a bunch of vaccine books from both sides (including Sears's Vaccine Book) -- and ultimately decided that we will not be vaccinating. It's amazing what kind of information is out there and we've both learned so much about the issue.

So awesome that you are confident in your decision before giving birth! I wish I would've researched prior to having my son...the anxiety ate me alive his first six months! I am very happy we haven't vaccinated him...he has contracted rotavirus and been exposed to whooping cough with no serious problems. I believe his immune system is strong because of his lack of vaccines

Look at this interesting flu vaccine commercial. At least they state some truths.

  • Immunize your baby.

Evidence shows babies who’ve been immunized in accordance with recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the CDC have half the risk of SIDS as babies who aren’t fully immunized.

Why do I not believe this.

Does anyone remember when you gave premission/declined hep b??

With LO I don't remember signing ANYTHING but I know she got it the day she was born. I've been making it clear that this baby will NOT receive it but I'm starting to get paranoid. I'm a single mama and probably will be alone in the hospital, so I don't even know if they'll "let" me room in

Can you birth in a birthing center? Or are you for sure wanting an epi? I would just not let baby leave your sight...don't let baby go to the nursery or anything...tell them you want all procedures ( weigh/ measure) done in your room

I was induced, and I signed the paper denying the hep b while they were putting my iv in shortly after I got there. And just tell them that everything is to be done with you present and don't let baby go to the nursery.

I told the nurse when she was getting me in my room and ddoing my IV. I told her that we did not want to do the Hep B vaccine at birth (although we dont vaccinate at all) and she brought me a waiver in to sign.

Also my husband left 2 hours after delivery to go home with our other boys and they allowed me to keep LO in the room with me at all times even when I was by myself. I demanded that everything be done in the room infront of me.
