They have to put that warning on pretty much everything that's not expressly FDAapproved.
Do some research on it, and see what you think.
I would definitely take 5,000 a day while pregnant and nursing, Dr. Khalsa's book addresses D3 deficiency in pregnancy and newborns as well.   It might clarify things for you, and he's been researching and treating patients with D3 for a long time, so I tend to trust what he has to say. He has a lot of experience.

Ah, it makes more sense to me, seeing that you are from Alaska! Of course you need more then average
I was reading about how our bodies have a feedback response to vit. d from the sun. You can get 20,000 IU from the sun if you spend half an hour lying in the sun in your bathing suit, but your body switches off production of vit. D when you've gotten enough. I think that's really neat. So it's impossible to OD from getting vit D from the sun but it's possible by taking it orally.
I love learning new things

yeah, i guess it will just research some facts on my own about it all. there are both pros and cons anywhere you google

Well I just got Ivan his DTaP-IPV-HIB 5 in one vaccine. Its fairly low aluminum (I forget the exact number but somewhere in the 300s) and thermiosol free. I always knew I wanted him to get some vaccines but I didnt want to do anything until I felt comfortable with all the information I have gathered.

Honestly I wish no diseases existed but because I live in a high risk area I weighed the pros and cons and decided to get him that one vaccine at 6 months. The nurse didnt pressure me into getting the others, andshe wasnt very judgemental about me delaying that vaccineeither so that was a nice suprise.

On the other hand my mother is majorly pressuring me into the H1N1 shot and its getting on my nerves. I dont leave the house so I dont think I am much of a risk. Also hubby lost his job so he isnt leaving the house either...so theres really not much of a risk in this household I dont think. My mom is majorly Pro-vaccine. Majorly. I remember hearing about that kid that sewed his parents for circumcising him. Well...I wish I could sue mine for making me get the flu shot as a child lol! From birth till age 16 they MADE me get one. And that was before they have ones that were low in mercury.

Well good for you for researching and coming to your own conclusions first!
We were a little worried about H1N1, as well...
Hubby got it shortly after our daughter was born, and it spread to the rest of us, including our newborn daughter. She ran a temperature for about 4 hours, and sneezed for a few days, but that was all. Hubby and our 1 year old son felt it the worst. I didn't feel it at all, beyond being more tired than usual and coughing and sneezing a bit.
Don't let anyone pressure you into doing anything you are not completely comfortable with. Hubby's mom is very pro-vaccines, as well, and every time she talks to us she wants to know if her grandkids have had ANY vaccinations yet. We've explained to her why we choose not to vaccinate, and ultimately her response is, "Well, YOU were vaccinated, and you're just fine!" *Sigh* I refuse to get into a conversation about it, because it's just not worth it. She believes what she believes, and I believe what I believe.

No. I'd never do it.

I'm just as opposed to vaccinations in my own body as I am in my child's body.
Besides, there is little evidence that the flu shot is even effective for preventing the flu.... So it's not a gamble I'm willing to take.
I'd rather take my chances against what is 99% of the time a mild virus, prevented by proper nutrition, sanitation and vitamin levels, than to inject such an icky cocktail of toxins into my body in the hope it's gonna prevent it. Which is iffy, at best.

I agree with you. The girl I that was trying to lecture me works for a drug company that makes vaccines and was trying to educate me on how safe they are...she even said they NEVER put mercury in them...annoyed the hell out of me!

Ok just to be sure, I want to give my 6 month old vitamin D drops. What would be a good amount, Vit D 2 or 3. I want to do this instead of a flu shot. Her pedi wanted to do one today and I declined. Should it be given once a day or throughout the day?

Vitamin D3.
And it depends on the dosage of the bottle you buy.
General guidelines is safe up to 2,000iu per 20 pounds of body weight daily.

Check the link I just posted above yours.

Thanks!
I've been trying to find the answer to these questions, maybe you will know....

Is it safe to take multiple 1000iu vitamin D pills to get the full 5000iu daily reccomended? I dont want to OD on the other ingredients in the pills...
And, do u know what brand of Vitamin D is safe for infants?
