Tantrum

How do you handle a toddler who is already having a moment.....a mini tantrum!!!! She's 17 months.

I always put my son in our extra bedroom. If he didn't have an audience, he didn't throw a fit.

I started putting my daughter in the corner at 17 months because she started that also...it's really been working good (she's 19 months now), now, anytime she starts I tell her to go to the corner and she goes by herself, pouting of course and I ask her to tell me she's sorry, then she can get up, it works great, and it definitely beats violence!

My husband came up with the rule that you have to stand up and cry. That's worked for us because our kids have all been ones that throw themselves onto the ground and kick and scream. We'd stand them up and say "you have to stand up to cry" and they would usually stop. I don't know whether it was just enough to throw them off their game or if they'd forget why they were crying to begin with...but it worked.

If you've got a "stand and stomp" kind of tantrum thrower that probably won't work...
