posted 18th Sep
I need major help. I am tryin to break my 14month old from his bottle at bed time. He is not having it AT ALL. he takes cups all day except for naps & bed time. I dont know how to break him except to let him cry it out. it is SOOO Hard to hear him scream. I have tried everything. the cups with the soft nipples; hard nipples; warm milk, cold milk; chocolate milk, juice, water. HELP. PLEASE!

Hm.
Maybe i am meaner than you are?

i dunno...at 12 months i usually just throw the bottles away.
Period.

Gianna will get hers for a month or two more because of the moving around and shit we've been doing....but that's it.
And then in the trash they go.

I let my son drink for a few minutes...put him to bed...without the bottle....got my baby monitor...shut the door and went and sat on the porch and let him scream it out. The first night it was like 3 hours...and it slowly went down. After a week he would whine for like 3 minutes. Every few minutes I would click the baby monitor on to make sure he was ok and eventually he got the point. Hes not a healthy happy 3 year old and goes to bed with no problems what so ever.

It hurts to hear your baby scream, but you know whats best for him and sometimes you just have to do it....

Evan was the same age when I broke him of the nighttime bottle.

He goes to bed at 9 so at 8 he gets a sippy full of milk. Then we go upstairs for him to get ready for bed. The 1st night he was pretty mad but after that it was much easier.

Now he is so excited when 8 rolls around. I'll even go "get in the milk spot" and he'll run over to his spot in front of the couch.

Good luck!

thanks girl. sounds like a good idea. It took about an hour; but he went to sleep. do you put him to bed with a sippy or just give it to him before?
