{JAS 08} PP Weight Loss

posted 18th Sep '08
I know that there are TONS of pp weight loss topics already started, BUT since I started my August mommies topic and it went so well, then Laura (Riley's Mommy) started our JAS topic I thought I would do a JAS PP Weight loss, so we can all share our weight loss experiences and let each other know what works for them, what doesnt and how everything is going.

Also, feel free to share pics! I know some may feel uncomfortable with their pp bodies, but who better to share them with other than the girls who were here throughout your whole pregnancy!?

As of today I had my 2 week pp visit. I have lost 27 lbs since I had Daykota. I weighed 233 before I got pregnant, and I weighed 253 before I had the baby... today I weigh 226. I was super excited and now I am working on getting down to 200lbs, then after that I'm working on 180. For being almosy 6'1 I think 200 isn't bad, but I want to feel a little better about myself... plus I have a wedding coming up in January and I want to look GREAT in a wedding dress.

You can't tell too well, because well Daykota is hiding my tummy, but this is me 2 weeks pp!

Well, atleast you're getting there! and you're only 19 days pp, you still have time to get where you want to be!

To upload pics you just need like a photobucket or something similar then the direct link of the image, then click the image button and put the link in it, then click add image! and tadah theres your picture.  Hopefully that helps

Congrats to you ladies on your weight loss. I still don't know how much I've lost since having the baby but I'm feeling pretty good. I'm glad you started this thread Lissa, I think we'll need the support, especially for those last few pounds.

Lissa you look great,.. I don't have any full body pics of me, but I'll take one tomorrow and post it up...

I am a weight loss counsellor and I was trying to get down to 150, I made it to 185 when I got prego... I was 225 the week before c-sec.. and I was 200 week after, and I was 195 a week ago... so i gained 40 and lost 30.. what's left is my pouch from the c-sec.. and I plan to get i the gym to work it out as soon as i get clearence from the doctors at my 7 week.pp . (he was overbooked for appts during my 6 week pp)

Hey ladies, here is the Dieting/Weightloss Tips
Suggest you copy and save on your computer.

Tips for great weightloss

-Meat Protein-Enjoy lighter meat proteins, such as Chicken and White Fish. As these break down quicker in your body. Red Meats and Pork take 2-3 days to break down, leaving your body more time to gather and store fat. Fatty fish, such as Salmon, are just that, fatty. Enjoy in moderation.
- Vegetarian Protein, such as eggs, nuts, cheese. (try using cheeses that are 3grams of fat or less)
- Vegetables, remember green is best. 1cup of most veggies equals one portion. Exceptions, 3 cups lettace, 2 cups spinich, and 6 baby carrots. (carrots are higher in sugars, and should be eaten in moderation..think horses, feed them carrots to beef them up)
- Fruits, are great!! The best ones are Cantaloupe or Watermelon. Melons are mostly water, therefore less for your body to hold on too, plus they help to flush your system. Grapefruit is great too. Grapefruit helps the acids in your tummy breakdown your foods. NOTE: some medications can not be taken with grapefruit, so please read your medications first.
-Dairy-8oz Skim Milk is one portion. Skim milk is best for weightloss, as it has least amount of fat. Fat free yogurts, fat free pudding cups, Cheese (3 grams or less fat) are all good sources of dairy.
Contray to belief, Ice Cream, should not be considered a dairy during weightloss it's a carb
. Starches/Carbs- Try to use only 1 heavy starch throughout the day, such as bread, buns, potatoes, corn, peas. (surprise these "vegetables" are in starches because of their high starch intake) Ice cream is a Starch! Try using lighter starches such as low sodium crackers, high fiber cereals, fat free popcorn, and tortilla wraps. Your body needs starch, it depends on what starches you choose. and do not eat in excess. a few a day is okay, mix up different catagories. example, have a bowl of cereal in the morning, a wrap for lunch, and some popcorn before or after dinner.
** Make sure to try to get 8 8oz glasses of water .. or 4 500ml bottles of water each day to help keep your system moving, and body hydrated.
**When in doubt, use JELLO (sugar free/fat free) .. can have it unlimitedly... so keep a bowl made in the fridge or the prepackaged ones.. so snacky/munchy time.

TWO DAY FLUSH
***Must be 6 weeks PP and NOT sole-source breast feeding!!!!!

Eat 1 whole cantaloupe throughout each day. This helps flush your system.
Enjoy any meats unlimitedly, NO Pork or Deli Meats.
Enjoy ONLY Green Vegetables unlimitedly. No Peas/Beans
Must have 2 eggs per day.
Drink 8x 8oz glasses of water per day. (yes you will be peeing alot)
Allowed butter/oil for cooking, reduced fat or fat free salad dressings, and spices.
NO CARBS/NO DAIRY/NO SALT
Suggestions to make easy for new mom's:
Make a big bowl of salad, Lettace, cucumber, green peppers, green onions, celery, zucchini, and broccoli
You can eat this salad unlimitedly all day, .. easier to have pre-mad ein your fridge to grab a bowlful when hungry.
Cook up a few steaks/chicken breasts and cut up in strips to top salad. Purchase a ready to eat rotissaire chicken.
Have steak and eggs for breakfast, or make an omellete with green peppers, green onions, broccoli.
Make Tuna and cucumber appetizers. slice cucumber and top with tuna.
***NOTE
: This flush can only be done for 2 days. Must leave 14 days of regular eating before repeating the flush.
your brain needs Carbs to function, you may feel "stupid" for 2 days. May get headache.

MORE TIPS
- Lemon in your water helps reduce bloating
Really good when you get your periods ladies.. .. jsut add a slice or two in your water bottle and away you go.... oh and did you know room tempature water is better for you than cold in the fridge water, doesn't shock your body/organs...

oh, if you like spicy things,... hot spices such as cayenne are good for you, .. they warm your core and your body has to work to cool it down, plus again flushes the system...
trying to eat 5-6 small meal/snacks through out the day instead of 3 big meals... keeps your metabolism wworking and alert all day, no time to sleep..
and eat something, ... within 30 mins of waking up, jsut like your alarm clock.. (oor baby screaming) wakes you up... food wakes up your metabolism to start working, otherwise you are up doing stuff and it's in bed sleeping and you aren't working anything off.
I used to take a divided dinner tupperware to work but I would put things like unsalted nuts and veggies and berries in the lil dividers..

chose veggies or fruit for snacks, low sodium crackers, low fat or fat free cheeses, fat free pudding cups, fat free yogurts , unsalted nuts, Smart Pop popcorn, (less fattening) ...

for really nice treats, try fat free yogurt with frozen berries or fresh, broken up low sodium graham crackers..or low fat granola makes a great parfait treat.

try chocolate fat free pudding, mixed with 1 tbsp fat free peanut butter and add low sodium graham crackers or animal crackers... actually is a really great treat, I usually save that for my PMSing chocolate treat.

Fat Free Jello is great to have anytime/all the time, ... not fattening, I add a lil bit of coolwhip light on top for a treat.

make a snack mix, using your popcorn, nuts, a lil bit of honey and some cinnoman..... put it in a baggy and shake it up... nice sticky treat... great at holiday parties too... you can alsospead on a wax paper covered pan and warm in oven on very low heat then let cool, .. cut into squares.

try different pudding with different fruits,
my favourites are
chocolate and banana
vanilla and raspberry
Butterscotch and green apples

get creative with your fruits

Veggies, .....
Cucumber with tuna mini appitizer sandwiches, use two slices of cucumber and fill with tuna...
use fat free salad dressings as dips for peppers, carrots, cucumber, celery. broccoli and cauliflower

When making dinners try to have 2 cups of veggies with piece of meat instead of the traditional potatoes/corn/peas ... such as broccoli and cauliflower, carrots, sauteed peppers in vinigarette salad dressing.

for lunches have wraps instead of bread sandwiches... use mustard instead of mayo or other sauces...
you can be creative with wraps... chicken, steak, tuna, and so many combinations of veggies...

have salads as side dishes... instead of rice or french fries

Use no-salt spices to give different flavours (oregano, parsley, cinnamon, garlic, etc)

note that beef and pork take longer for your body to digest, try sticking to chicken or white fish more often and treat yourself once a week to beef..

I changed all my recipes that requires ground beef to ground chicken, and no one in my family has even noticed, and it's better for them.
(meatloaf, spagetti/pastas)
I also make my meatloaf in a muffin pan, so they are portion controlled.
also makes for nice serving display on plate when company is over.

All you girls really look great! I will go to the doc on Tuesday for my 6 week pp appt. I am hoping for good news! I was 185 pre prego and got up to 216 the Monday before I had Camden. I am hoping to have lost most of that weight, but if not..then it's time to exercise!

Yea, I thought we would all need a little help with this, and tonight I feel like I'm so going to lose at losing weight. I have the munchies like crazy and I'm just well tired of munching on healthy foods. I cannot wait to start excercising and stuff like that, does anyone know of any simple at home things I can do only being 2 week PP? I don't want to overdue it being so soon.

I know I can walk around, and now that I know my stitches are out, and that this random pain is just soreness from having the baby I feel better walking around and getting out more, but thats not going to help my tummy get into shape.

Patty: You look Amazing! And it sounds like so far, everyone is doing pretty decent on their weight loss. Congrats girls, and I hope things keep going well!

Weird, I just posted something in this thread and added an image and it disappeared! Anyway...

Patty, I think you still look terrific! Maybe coz you look so proportional! Even Lissa, looks good! My face has thinned out but my arms and legs sure haven't!
I gained 31.5 lbs during pregnancy. I'm supposed to be 100 lb for my height (which is a teeny 5'1"), and even before I got preggo I had already gained 8.5 lbs. Counting that into the weight I have to lose, I still have to lose 25 lb! O.O

I know I have to enrol into a gym but, man! I hate gyms - I don't like all those mirrors! But if hubby and I go, I'm enrolling into a cycling class! (Just hope I can leave my baby with my own nanny without the evil nanny barging into the room!)

Little Miss: You look really good. And Peyton is adorable! I don't think I would like Gyms so I'm going to try to do it on my own., I was never really thin, so I don't actually have a pouch or anything like that... I think if I work at it enough it will tighten up, or atleast I hope so.

Thats exactly what my tummy looks like sitting down.. just thought id share

I guess it depends if you have a deadline or not.. I wouldn't want it to be almost a year after my baby is born and I still have preggo weight   But, my cuz is having a wedding this December, and guess what? Peyton is going to be ring bearer and I may be matron of honor, so I need to lose weight! Hahaha

I forgot to share this but I still feel bad - I cut some of Peyton's skin in his pointer finger the other day. He was sleeping so I took that opportunity to cut his fingernails. I've been doing it since a week after he was born but this time, I accidentally cut some of the skin off at the tip! He woke up wailing and his finger was bleeding! I felt sooo bad - it was a good thing I sterilized the nail cutter. I put iodine on his finger and put a band-aid on it. He stopped crying after the initial shock, and then started crying coz he was hungry - but boy, I feel really bad til now! Poor baby - he is now sporting a band aid in his finger (have you ever seen a baby with a band aid :'( ) It's getting better but since he nibbles on his hands now, I still put a band aid so that he doesn't lick the iodine off.

Awwe, that poor baby! I've been cutting Daykotas nails the same way, when she goes to sleep and I notice they're long I cut them, and its so hard because she wiggles in her sleep as well, but I try hard not to cut her finger.

That is awesome that you might be a matron of honor. I know I'm going to have my younger cousin as my maid of honor, because well one shes my cousin and I love her to death and I wouldnt feel right picking between my bestfriends. They can just be brides maids. But I have until January till get to a decent size and looking good!

I am so glad that my tummy doesn't pouch out... wel it does if I wear the wrong jeans, I need to lose a little bit more weight to fit into a couple other pairs of jeans.
