When did you start offering condiments to your little one? Things like butter, ketchup, mayonaise, etc...

Well, my daughter is 19 months and she likes dipping things in Ketchup and ranch dressing and has for about 3 months now.

My two year old is kind of interested in ketchup but that's it and we only give it to him on a turkey dog. Otherwise the condiments in our house are peanut butter and jelly until you're old enough to not get syrup all over the place on Pancake Sundays.

Vince gets mustard on his sandwiches.  Mainly because Daddy let him try a bite of his and he loved it.  So if he's getting a ham and cheese, we put a little bit of mustard on it for him.  But not much.  I don't think I'd let him dip in anything yet.  I'm too worried about the mess that he'll make.  lol.  However, I will say that it will probably be quite a while before I let him have any Ranch dressing.  IMO it's just not necessary, and it's not very healthy.

When Jamil starts asking for them I will offer them. He doesn't eat many foods that require dipping as it is... But I'm sure he will eventually ask when he see's me dipping something. I would prefer to wait until he has mastered eating with a fork.

I also don't want dipping to be a requirement.

and as for butter and mayo, probably not for a good long while, if ever. Mayo is really bad for you, and something most people who are over weight or have high cholesterol or high blood pressure should cut out, so I would rather just not teach him to like it.

My doctor said that many teens are now suffering from high blood pressure from all the unhealthy diets and fast foods, as well as salt, and other things, So he said to avoid those things if possible because it is easier to have never known about them then to have to cut them out later.
