Advice

I was hoping some of you who've been through something similar could give me some advice. Next week my husband and I are looking after some things around the house for our neighbours cuz they are going to Vancouver for the week (not exactly sure what's happening there)when my husband asked if it was for vacation he was told that no it was because their baby (late 2nd trimester) has some birth defects and won't live past a week. So I don't know if they are going to a larger hospital to see a specialist, to look at options, or to have their baby and just be with her for that week before she passes. Anyway we don't know them very well (my husband used to be acquaintances with the guy in high school) but my husband wants to send them a gift basket of fruit or flowers or something when they get back. I feel a little uncomfortable doing this cuz we don't really know the circumstances and feel it would be inappropriate to ask given that we are not close to them.As well it has become obvious in the last 2 weeks that I'm def expecting and I know that when I lost my baby (early tho) I couldn't stand the thought or presence of any other pregnant woman and I don't want her to feel like I'm shoving it in her face or just reminding her of things she doesn't want to think about. My husband really wants to do something to show them that we're thinking about them in this time, I just don't want to make a bad situation worse. And advice would be great. Thanks ahead of time.

I think a gift basket is a lovely idea - all the card needs to read is "if we can do anything for you please let us know"

I think a card expressing that you are there for them at this time is a good idea!.

I think if you dont know the situation all that well sending anything bigger could make it awakward.

I agree. You don't have to know exactly what is going on. Just let them know that you guys are there for them if they need you. I could be the start to a wonderful friendship!

Ya, it was the neighbor guy who came over and asked if my husband could do somethings for him while they were gone and then told him that little bit.

Oh well then maybe a gift basket would be a good idea! its not invading and even though you dont know the whole story you know some.. and it shows you care.

Ok, well thanx ladies, I guess I'm just being paranoid of doing the wrong thing. I'm sure we'll probably send something over then.
