The reason you're not allowed anything to eat/drink after your water breaks is to reduce the risk of infection to baby. Not to mention if you have too much on your stomach during labor there is a good chance of you being sick because of the extreme pressure your stomach goes through during contractions.

My directions for my induction on thursday say that I'm not allowed to eat anything too heavy the morning of. I can only have like toast, bagel, dry cereal or fruit. No eggs, bacon, or sausage...

dont worry about that, the doctors keep you on a monitor and baby too, if you feel anything that is odd hit the button and they will be in there in a matter of seconds. i swear the people that work with mommas and babies love their jobs they will do anything for you if you ask them. the more you worry the more stress it puts on the baby. not to mention they make sure they can answer all the questions you have. honestly they care for their patients so much.

I was induced both times with my son and daughter.... with my son he was 1 week early and they did it b/c my doctor decided that she wanted to move out of state and had all of her paitents be induced .... I got to 7 centimeters and was screaming for the epi.. they had me on poticin and was upping the dose every half hour! it hurt like hell... the epi had NO effect on me what so ever I still felt everything and was screaming during the entier time I was pushing....

Now with my daughter....  I was put on cervidil every 4 hours I think? and that wasn't bad... it got me to a 5 in just 2 doses. but then I got the POTICIN  and got stuck at a 5 for about 12 hours and they just kept upping that dose every half hour!!! my contractions were etting worse and worse and I couldn't walk around to help me dilate so I gave in and got the epi  I really wanted to go natural..... but this time it worked and I felt NOTHING   when I pushed they had to tell me that I was contracting and still felt nothing!!! IT WAS THE BEST THING EVER!!! yayaya for the epideral(sp).... good luck hun

Then pain wise I dont think that you should have any problems. Atleast you know you will get there in time to get the epidural. I know a few people who have gotten there after they were to far along to get the epidural.
Just another reason I wanna be induced.

I am sorry.... to make my story even longer... lol once I ot the epi and i was stuck at a 5 with in a half hour I was at a 7 then my water broke!!! within 2 hours of having the epi I was pushing my little girl out .... once I got the epidural I was able to relax and then I started to dilate faster and faster

i wasnt allowed to eat of drink after midnight. I went in to be induced at 5am. wouldnt let me have anything but ice at all even before my water was broken. I didnt have my dd until 1010pm... So I hate all of you who were able to snack! lol

As soon as dd was out and things calmed down i sent dh out to steak n shake to bring me a burger and cheese fries!

Hopefully it will just help speed things along. My dr thinks that even though my contractions werent very strong when i came in- the fact that i was already having them might have helped speed things up. And if you are planning the epi anyway- you've got nothing to worry about!

That's my problem. Having cxns is no problem. But I'm not dilating at all... will they still do pitocin if I'm having cxns??? I don't want that one thing the other momma was talking about with the balloon and the weight... UGH! I have enough pain and pressure down there, I don't want high school science lab weights hanging from my hoo hoo!!! Forget that!!

I was induced with my first i had a membrane sweep that didnt work. Then a few days later my midwife scheduled for me to be induced i got admitted into hospital early morning was monitored than had the tablet inserted(not sure of the name)around 12 my contractions started at 10pm waters broke at 12 and had my daughter at 14:30.......
I dont think my labor was anymore painful than a regular one only thing i didnt like is the fact they sent my partner home when my contractions started and left me with a paracetamol for the pain until my partner and mom was called at 9am the next day and i was taken to the delivery suite
