Question: Birth control and possibly pregnant

I had a baby in April that passed away in May. In June I went for my pp checkup and decided to take birth control (Yaz). So I started taking them in July(taken 1.5 weeks of it), but i stopped because I thought it wasweaking my depression medication. So i talked with my doctor and she said it shouldn't interfer with the medication. So I started it again in August, but had sporatic bleeding through the whole month. Sooooooooo, we had unprotected sex and I don't feel that comfortable with my birth control (working), so do I assume that i may be pregnant and discontinue BC or do I continue taking the BC? I just don't want to harm our baby if it turns out that I am pregnant! Help, what do you girls think!

I hate Yaz.... I won't use it because it does have a farily high fail rate. I would stop using it (but that's just me) and after you get your next period try to get onto a different birth control such as an IUD. The IUD has no hormones and shouldn't affect any time of medication or mood, and really has no side effects!

well the biggest question is do you want to be pregnant again? if you do than don't take it, but if you aren't at the moment you could get preganat. but usually it takes a full month on BC with no stops in between to even be up to par with working right. the sptting is normal sicne you body is ajusting to the new hormone meds (BC). if you think you are but don't want to full on try i suggest using other means of protection till you find out for sure.

I haven't been happy with it.....I bleed for 2-3 days during the weeks where you are not suppose to be bleeding. It's very confusing, I don't know if it a period or just heavy spotting.

First of all I'm very sorry for your loss  .
Taking BC shouldn't hurt your baby if you are pregnant. Most people who get pregnant on BC don't find out until their break anyway and their babies are just fine. The bleeding could just be breakthrough bleeding from not taking your BC regularly. When is your period due?

I would love to be pregnant again, we are not really TTC but not really not TTC. Actually this is the 2nd time we have had sex since April. The first time we used the pull out method, and well this time..........

When your period is supposed to come, see what happens.

If it doesn't come, take a test, and go to the doctor to see what's up.

If it comes I'd suggest getting another form of BC you will be happy with.

Either way, you should go to the doctor when it's about time for your period. Also, start using condoms until then!

not quite sure when my period is due.....i did have some bleeding that lasted 3-4 days Aug 23. I was thinking that was my period, and then it stopped and started back 4 days later for two days (while taking the birthcontrol)

I think maybe you should go ahead and make an appiontment with your doctor. Figure out if you are pregnant or not and ask if you should switch BC.

i have called my doctor, I think i will discontinue the pills until I know for sure, I will start my folic acid and prenatal vitamins as if I am pregnant (won't hurt if I'm not) and just wait until Flo arrives (or not) which maybe should be around Sept 24th. We will see
