first birthday question?

posted 6th Sep
ok, so i was thinking about having Julia's first birthday at the zoo. there is a big covered pavillion there with lots of big tables. anyway, my question is, cost of addmission to the zoo is 10.50 for adults and 8 for children (free under2) but can i expect them to pay for the ticket in to the zoo or is that rude? becuase i can't afford to have it there if i have to pay everyones way in (that would end up being like $500 on top of the cost of party supplies and food) so what do you guys think?

We had Caydens second party at the zoo sorta....they have a huge playground and fishing area and picnic tables with bbq pits right outside the zoo entrance. So we actually had a bbq and set up at the picnic tables. Is there anything possible like that? Or does the zoo have like a party pack that would include admission and different stuff for the party?
Im just thinking cause a family of four is gonna spend $40+to get in and then to buy a gift also? Sry Im a cheapskate.

the party pack doesn't apply because she has to be turning at least 4 and that is still $250 and only includes 30 ppl and there are more family members that that who want to come   so i guess i might have to look into something else

This is a really tough situation (I think). I personally wouldnt ever have a party somewhere that admission would be payed by the attendants, butI really see your point on the extra $500 that you'd have to spend.

My MIL had me a babyshower at a restaurant and didnt pay for anyone's food. I really was ashamed and felt it was really tacky to do so. Several people even made comments on the fact that she did that. My feeling was, if she didnt want to pay for everyone's meal, then she should have had it at another location. (Similar situations, I know not exactly the same though). She even wrote on the invites that they were expected to pay for their meals.

Maybe you could pay for it, but only invite close friends and family to cut down on the cost? Or maybe have the party somewhere that no one would have to pay to get in? I dont know...maybe if you did end up doing it there, at least write on the invites that you wont be paying (I personally think this is kind of tacky, but at least then people would have the option to not go if they cant afford it).

Im sorry, Im not alot of help. Like I said, thats a tough situation.

it really is, i think i will probly have to just look into another location, because my gut feeling is that its just tacky to ask them to pay, and so many of her daddy's family live right there in ft worth that i can't really cut the list down with out offending someone (even more complicated is me and her dad are in the middle of a divorce ) sooo, i will look around and see if there is somewhere either cheaper or free

Im sorry! I know how it is to have your heart set on something and then not be able to do it.

I hope you find something comparable to the zoo that is more affordable for you. I know exactly how it is to not be able to invite someone withoutthen inviting so and so as well.

I hope it all works out for you! What about a park and then (maybe this is a stretch) but maybe rent like a mini petting zoo type thing.I dont know if that option is available where you are, but that would be cute, something to look into at least!
