Is it ok to flush tampons?

posted 6th Sep
I have always flushed tampons down the toilet because I thought it was the proper way to dispose of them but my husband and friend are telling me I am wrong. I have never had an issue with the toilet clogging up at my parent's or any other house I have lived in but today the toilet clogged. Is it ok to or not?

Um.. no that was like the first thing we learned about using a tampon.. was not to flush it .. ever.. sorry girl they should have told you that when you first started or had that class in Health...

I always have but I found out the hard way last week that it's no bueno. Our septic tank got clogged up because of it. It was pretty embarrassing when the workman was explaining the "feminine products" were the culprit.

I was told you can't flush the applicator. Some tampons say they have flushable applicators on the box so I figure all of it could be flushed. Only thing I was ever told not to flush was pads but that is a no brainer.
