That's a good idea. The problem is getting her to sleep. She is still taking a bottle to bed (we try not to give her milk, but water). I tried letting her cio, but Dan doesn't like letting her cry, so he figures a bottle is better. I've had to go along with it even though I disagree. He thinks we'll just deal with one thing at a time. It was getting her into her own bed. Now I don't know how do get her off the bottle and to sleep through the night. I am so exhausted, with being in my 1st trimester and waking up 2-3 times a night. I am going crazy.

I would try something else to get her to sleep. Find something else I never gave coralynn a bottle when she went to sleep so i dont know what to tell you. And with the bed coralynn has been in her own since she was born. So i cant give advice on that either. I didn't want to do the things you are doing now.

She has to learn to soothe herself and if she doesnt then you are going to be stuck with that. Try giving her only a sippy cup and she will drink it when she is thirsty. With the bottle i took coralynns away and just didnt give it to her cold turkey and it worked.

Well we are definitely learning the hard way. We were co-sleeping because it was easier to nurse and sleep. But getting her into her bed was pretty hard. She is a champ at it now, but when i weaned her Dan exchanged me for a bottle, which I hate(d). I would just lay with her and she would cry a little bit bc I wasn't nursing her. Now she takes a bottle of water to bed every night. I've tried switching it with a sippy cup, but she isn't taking it.   Did Coralynn take a paci?

The next one is not going to be as hard. (S)he will be put right into her/his own bed and no bottles to sleep!

We didnt give coralynn a paci. She sucks her thumb. I nursed her also up until 11 months. She self weaned. But our bed wasnt big enough for all three of us so i just went in her room and nursed her. It sucked but it was what worked for us.

At first it was hard getting coralynn to bed. BUt eventually she knew that it was bed time and she had to go to sleep. Now she knows when its bedtime and she will let you know if she is tired.

I didnt want to give her a paci because if we lost it i knew that i wasn't going to go buy another one in the middle of the night. I believe in no pacis! but thats just me. I feel alot of kids depend on them up until they are like 3 and i dont think its a good thing. Coralynn sucks her thumb when she is upset or tired. but thats it. I knw everyone says a paci is easier to take away because her finger is still attached but i sucked my thumb and my mom said it wasnt hard to break.

Yeah with the next one we have I'm going to nurse for as long as possible and no pacis. Just to try it differently than this time. And I'm gona have Randy be sure that they don't give her/him a paci when she's born. I think thats why Kat wouldn't latch cuz she didn't eat till at least an hr after she was born and there was a paci in her bassinet.

This is what I get for being lazy. HaHa. It we fit in our bed, so I was able to nurse her and sleep. We were so determined to have her use a paci that we forced it on her when she was a month old. She ended up showing us who the boss was 2 months later. She just refused to take it and we haven't used it since. I just wanted her to have a way to soothe herself, but she didn't like it. She wasn't really a thumb sucker either. So I don't know what to do. I was using music to calm her and it worked, but dan didn't want her to rely on music to get her to sleep. As you can see me and him have very different ideas of what we should do.

She's getting better at getting to sleep and sometimes does it without water, but she still wakes up at night.

Sky had a paci the first night in the hospital and we're still nursing. She used her paci up until maybe a month ago, she hates it.

Pacis are NOT detrimental to nursing.

I think it was a mix of them giving her a paci when i said not to and the fact that i was trying to nurse her with a fricken DD lol. Idk. All i know is next time I'm nursing as long as possible.

Either way, the only thing you need is boobs and dedication. I read up on it a lot and went to LLL before hand because I was dead set on BFing. Even with having my nipples pierced twice, these things still work ;)

La Leche League. http://www.llli.org/WebUS.html if you're interested in finding one near you. I found it helpful being that I didn't know anyone else who BFd and the L&D nurses were a joke. They wouldn't come to my room or assist me at all and just told Shaun to tell me "I'm sure it's fine" and even took her from me after she first latched.

So, it was nice to have other ladies to ask questions and have someone other than Shaun be supportive.

Quoting Melinda B:“ I was wondering if anyone else is still having their baby wake up at midnight. If not, what can I do to get her to sleep through the night?”

Johnny would wake up every night and go back to sleep after I changed his diaper so I figured it was just because his diaper was full. I've been putting him in Huggies Overnight diapers and he has been sleeping through the night ever since! I think having the full diaper made him uncomfortable and cold so I'm glad we found a solution for that!
