Accidents

posted 4th Sep
My 4 year old daughter Allison has been potty trained since she was 2. She had the occasional accident for a few months then she was very good about getting to the bathroom and staying dry all night.

Now for the past 2 days she has had about 10+ accidents. She will all of a sudden come out from her room and I will notice that she has changed her clothes and when I ask she admits she was wet so she changed. She has also pee'd all over the bathroom floor twice.

So Daddy thinks I need to take her to the Dr. a friend of mine thought maybe she was doing it for attention (she has a new 3 month old baby sister) But when I ask Allison what happened she says either "I wanted to watch my movie" or "I just wanted to play with my toys" So Im thinking she just puts off and then doesnt get to the bathroom in time.

Any advice on what I should do?

Sometimes they regress when there is a new Baby in the house. I would give her a little time, it is probably just a phase. I have a 4 year old Niece who decided to do that when my Son was born, she got over it pretty quick though. Good Luck Mama.

I have no advice, but I am getting my 23 mos. old ready to potty train. Because of that, I have done a lot of reading about it and it does say that a new sibling can cause a 'regression' in potty training. I can't remember what they said to do about it, though.

My almost 4 year old does that too! I think she's having too much fun to take the time to go potty. Could also be in part with the new baby, I just had my son a few weeks ago and accidents have seemed to increase. I've thought about doing a reward system, for everyday she is dry all day she can have a treat or sticker.

She was in daycare since she was 1 year old up to this May when I had my second and now I stay home with them. She will be starting Kindergarten next year.

Does this matter? The reason I ask, is my son is 3 and he's been potty trained for almost a year and pretty much accident free. Well he started preschool a few weeks ago and since then he's probably had 4 accidents. They never happen at school, only at home. I've been at a loss as to why he's all of a sudden having accidents.
