Medicaid

posted 3rd Sep
I have a few questions about Medicaid. Sorry if they are obvious.

Will i be able to qualify even tho i'm 15?
Will they not accept me if my parents make too much?
How much do they cover in Mass?
Is it worth it or is it better to just have regular insurance?
How do i sign up?

Apply for MassHealth, it takes usually less than a week to hear back, even though they will tell you it takes up to 3.

They won't give it to you if your parents make too much. .same with WIC. So I'm screwed. .PM and I'll tell you how me and my parents are working out the insurance thing.

Yes you will qualify even though you are 15
your parents will have to apply for you, unless they are absent parents.
NO if they make too much, you will NOT qualify.
If you are still on your parents insurance, just stay on it. If it's available anyways and your parents can afford it, medicaid won't accept you anyways.
I do not know about mass., thought, because I'm from oregon

You would sign up by going to the office that deals with that. Just Google Medicaid Massachusetts and I'm betting something would come up... the self sufficiency office handles that in Oregon, I don't know the state-to-state difference.

Massachusetts has mandatory healthcare, so if you don't qualify for or can't afford other insurance there is a program here, for everyone, called MassHealth.

So even tho i'm pregnant i cant get it because my parents make too much?
That's why i couldn't get WIC either.
It's not like my parents are rich tho, most of their money goes to bills since they own a house. It would really help if i had Mass Health or Medicaid. My insurance isn't too great, doesn't cover enough. I don't want my parents paying for all these bills, when it's MY responsibility.

You can print an application for MassHealth online and send it in, I remember from my app there was space for other insurance, just be truthful with them. It can't hurt to try.

And does Mass Health cover a lot?
Do they care if my parents make too much or do they go by me?

I thought i was considered emancipated medically...Thats what the Dr said. I would think that means i can get my own insurance.

My MassHealth plan is awesome, I went with Network Health and they cover a lot. Once you are accepted by Mass Health they will send you a list of plans to choose from.

I called Mass Health with a ton of questions and they were really nice, I'm sure they would be able to help you out and answer all the specifics.

Unfortunately, the state doesn't see it that way. Unless you are emancipated you are still their responsibility.

If your parents make too much you wont qualify. Unless your parents are in the poor house, medicaid is probably going to tell them that they make too much.
