Have you talked to a lactation consultant? If you're having issues and want to keep at it, maybe nipple shields or something of the like can help you and an LC would be able to give you some sound advice. Just don't be shy about finding one who listens to YOU instead of having their own agenda. If you're in such pain, I admire that you've kept going for a month. Hopefully it's just temporary and you two can figure it out. Good luck!

I would most definately try to get a lactaion specialist to come by your house and help you. He could be latching on wrong, not holding him right, there are several things that you could be doing wrong. Hang in there that breastmilk is the best for him

When you're done feeding, expel some milk and use it to "lotion" your nipples and areola and wait for it to dry before putting your bra back on. Maybe that would help.

No she doesn't need to get any damn formula. Jesus.

OP, is this a new problem or has it been like this since you started?

Don't quit. See if you can find a good lactation specialist in the area. The local co-op in my town has La Leche League meetings and support groups.

well at first i didnt know what to do because he was a month early so i figure he was a little slow at the sucking and his actual due date was august 25, so i amtrying to give him more time. I will try calling someone..its just so frustrating.   I just wish i could do it myself

I'm scared that's gonna happen. But, breastfeeding means a lot to me.

And, Ms. Tamika.. That's laziness, pure laziness. You need to read about the benefits of breastfeeding.
