i havent had my son yet ; but my mother spanked me in public if i needed it.. and i think there is nothing wrong with it. theres a diference between child abuse and a spanking . and if your child needs a spanking by all means that is your child. ive seen kids throw themselves ont he floor and run away from their parents and laugh about it. A little spanking on the butt wont hurt. and to them people that look at you like OH MY GOD.. i will never lay a hand on my child... well thats your child .. this is my child they have no right to judge you.!

alot of times people who dont believe in spanking their kids , look down or roll their eyes at people who are spanking there kids... they dont understand its not their kid.. but thats cool you dont spank your daughter and you really dont care what other people do. when im out with my aunts and stuff she might spank my little cousin and someone will say something... i just dont like that.. if you dont spank your kids thats your choice but dont go saying stuff to others on what they do YA KNOW? but like you said you dont do it.

I never said I don't believe in it. I just said I will never do it. But I do understand where you are coming from.

Well... My daughter is only about a year... so we havn't had to spank her... I don't think a swat on the butt is bad though... I will have limits.. I would never spank her bare skin on her rear. My dad did that with a belt. (he isn't the best father) I will only ever use my hand.. I know people have paddles.. and that is fine for them... but I don't think I will do that. I plan on only spanking if all other means of punishment are being ignored.. I'm hoping time-out will work.. but who knows til we get there. Also.. I will never spank all of my kids at the same time to make a point out of ones mistake. My dad did that once... My younger brother spilled a bowl of cereal once, and Every single one of us was spanked (5 of his own and 2 that were not his own). First we were lined up and had to watch while he spanked us from oldest to youngest.. and not just his kids.. his nephew and neices too. Talk about traumatizing.

Hopefully I will never need to spank in public... I don't know if I would..

i do spank my daughter and yes in public if needed.

i would never spank both my kids just because one of them did something wrong... my mil never spanked my DH or any of his siblings and now as she sees how it helps my kids learn she wishes she would have spnaked their asses lol even my husband says if his momma would have spanked him he prob wouldnt have gotten into some of the things he had... you dont spank your children out of mean-ness but you spank them out oflove. and to theone that saidshe had to pull her kids hairBTDT lol my daughter tried to run one time and there was a car coming andi just reacted and tried to grab her and the first thing i got was her ponytail my DH freaked out on me and i was like well i could have let her get run over or i couldpull her hair and stop her which would you choose and he shut up!!!!!!

my son responds very well to time out and loss of TV time. I have "swatted his butt lightly on 2 occasions.(an he is 7 years old)..but in no way did it hurt him. I wouldnt "spank"my kids...theres a huge difference between spanking and a swat on the butt i think.

I had no idea who she was and they were leaving the store. But if I could have I'd of called them. From the boys reaction you could tell that it happened often.

Yes, both my boys get a smack on the bum or hand if they're naughty.
Usually i try the "naughty corner/step" first, i put my eldest there for 7 minutes ( a minute for each of his years in age) and 2 minutes for my 2 yr old. it works more with my 2 yr old, he will sit there and cry, but then i go get him after 2 mins, he says sorry, we kiss and cuddle and i praise him for staying there. then move on forget the naughtiness and distract him with something else, doesnt work as easy with a 7 yr old for me!!!

the good thing about the naught corner/step is that even if you are out, shopping, or a friends house, or a resturant, there are always steps or corners everywhere to give them the time out, and they get more embarrassed if out in public doing it.
I would smack them in public if needs be, i havent before as they're generally good whilst out, if they do play up, i just tell them that they not getting candy or a treat if they carry on, so they soon stop!!
