circumsizing problems.

Soo, i went through all this BS to get the money on time to have my child circumsized when he was born, and my OB told me that she couldnt do it because he hasnt "grown into his penis yet". so i had to wait 2 weeks to have it done and have her tell me the SAME thing! now i know 3 other people from the same place who have had the same problem, my babies peepee is normal sized, so i don't see why she won't do it. a nurse from the OB told me that a few years ago they messed up and had a bunch of lawsuits filed against them so now they won't do it unless the childs hung. she said the doctor was really picky about who she circumsized and that most babies go home from the hospital not circumsized. i'm really angered though, because i wanted my child circumsized and now i'm going to have to go to a specialist. has anyone else had this problem? its going to cost so much more money now, and hurt him so much more. i just dont know what to do.

That's not right!!! My son had a bigger penis (according to the doctors) and he was a preemie and he still had it done 2 days after he was born! That's bullshit and I'd do something about it!!!

Have you taken him to a different doctor? I had to wait until my son was two months old because he was a preemie. He cried more when he got his shots then when he was circumsized. When i brought him to a specialist to check everything out they wanted to wait until he was a year old and put him to sleep. I was like hmm No.

I have not had the same prob, but my insurance did not cover the circumcision at the hospital so my pedi had to do and when i called to schedule it they told me that they would not take a baby over 4 weeks to get circumcised.. I never heard of the size of the pp mattering.. If i were you i would get a different pedi.. It shouldnt cost too much.. it was only $200 where i got my son done and they were extremley good... Have you ever thought of changing your pedi?

Wow that is odd, I haven't heard of anyone having to wait to have it done, most hospitals do it when they are born. I would just do somemore research on it. I couldn't imagine making a baby wait, you would think that it would hurt alot more. IDK though. Good luck and keep us posted.

his penis isnt smalll though, my nephew got it done by a different doctor and my son has a bigger penis then he has and hes a year old! they're freaking crazy, so now i'm going to ask my pedi to see what he can do.
it just pisses me off because he shouldnt have to be in that much pain and have to wait. hell we were in the hospital for 4 damn days, they could have done it then!

Well if thats the case then I would go to a different pediatrician.. I had to go to a different one at first too because for one he creeped me out and for two i didnt like the way they were gonna do the circumcision. And i love my pedi now... I hope things work out for you..

Well i was on low income insurance so they wouldnt cover the circumcision.. What kind of insurance do you have

We have BCBS thru my husbands work. I really hope that they will cover something like that because hell we pay $120 a WEEK. I think I need to call my insurance company tuesday!

o im sure they will pay... The majority of insurances do.. My boyfriend and I arent married so i cant get on his insurance and I got on medical because I dont have an income...

Get your money back and go somewhere else! My OB wanted $250 to doit, but we called a pedi a friend referred us too and they qouted us $130-and we only ended up paying $25 co-pay for it because it was covered by our insurance. As far as the pain, dont get to stressed yet about it. Keep in mind they DO numb it before the procedure. With our son, he was done at a week old, and we left the room. We literally heard him cry for maybe 30 seconds-and it was when they were strapping him into the thing that holds him still. After he was strapped in,and the nurse had a peice of gauze with some sugar water on it to suck on, and he didnt react to the circumsion AT ALL! And the recovery wasa breeze, he never seemed bothered by it the entire time.

I think thats crazy! If you have already paid for it then def. get your money back and get a new Dr.
My insurance also didn't cover and Connor's cost me $525! I had to wait and get it done at 3 weeks so that I could get the money. They didn't accept payments. He was fine though didn't cry once through it.

my pedi gave me this number to call and i found out my insurance DOES cover it, just when he gets on it. so i'm getting my money back and as soon as i get his card hes getting it done asap.
my OB people are ridiculous!
