Gustav already a 4 (and gaining) *UPDATE

Hurricane Gustav is already a Category 3 storm and it isn't even in the warm Gulf waters yet. It's current wind speed is at 125mph; if it gets to 131mph it's a Cat 4.   This is not good, not at all.

&I was supposed to fly home on Thursday,...I'm really hoping I still can and it doesn't strengthen again, but it's not looking good.  


UPDATE:
Gustav still isn't in the Gulf yet and it's already a Cat 4 with winds at 145mph!  

Eek! This is so scary...I just keep thinking about Katrina. I hope nothing to that magnitude happens again.
I pray that it doesn't gain anymore strength, and that all that were affected by Katrina are spared this time around.

Oh I pray it doesn't hit Houston. I wish it didn't have to hit anywhere, but please not there.  

One of my friends from LA left this weekend. She and her family packed up their new 1 mos+ old and her 6 yr old daughter and had to evacuate. I don't think you should fly back. This morning the news reported the storm will continue to grow and get worse by labor day. I pray for them and others around the area of the storm. So horrible.

I kinda have to fly back. My son and I are going to live with my parents [about 60 miles south of New Orleans] b/c my husband and I are separating.

Well I am sorry to hear that. I pray that you and your son are safe. I wonder if you airlines will even allow you to fly into the area due to the storm?? Have you checked on that? Just out of curiousity.

YesI have, my flight is supposed to be for Thursday into New Orleans, by then the storm will be in Northern Louisiana, so unless there is massive flooding again, I'll be fine to fly.

i know i've been watching... i'm so worried for the people who live in the area there. i'm in NC but i somewhat had to experiance Katrina because i work with cell phone company, and people were calling in frantic needing us to transfer to their vm so they could herer their vm of family members searching for them... or sometimes for us to help them get 911 after the storm was gone because someone was attacking them... i hope it dies down, but it don't look promising at all...

It's not looking good at all. They're saying it's going to be a 5 well before it hits land and just keep gaining strength the whole time.

Just out of curiosity, what city do your parents live in? My ex lives pretty close to New Orleans. About halfway between NO and Lafayette.

My parents are about 60 miles South of New Orleans, in Laforrche Parish.

I don't know much about La, I was there once...he lives in Morgan City.
