posted 30th Aug
suplement my daughters bottles? I was just able to ween her a month ago, and I have been putting 1/2 a can of enfamil in her night time bottle of milk( and she has 3 or more throught the night...is THAT normal?) and I figure the reason she dosent eat much through the day is the bottles at night..any tips how to stop this?...

You can stop giving them formula at a year old. Just give her whole milk. If you're giving her half formula right now just start slowly decreasing it until there is no formula. Three bottles at night for her age seems a bit much. My four month old doesn't even have that many.

My daughter didn't get up @ night to eat @ all after 6 weeks =, but I think 3 bottles @ night is alot~ unless it is over a 12 hour period (4 hour schedule)

Maybe you should talk to her doctor. Unless she's on the extended formula, regular formula is until they're one year old then it doesn't have what they need. She should be getting her main nutrient's from food and other things now not formula.

I would honesty take her to the doctor and talk to them about it. They can help you make a meal plan for her and give you an idea of how much of things she should be getting. I don't think she should be getting any bottle in the night, but she could be just doing that as a comfort thing and not a need. She shouldn't be on the formula that much longer, but they have other drinks you can give children that are high in calories if they're having nutritional problems. Your doctor will know what's best.

I suggest you switch her to PediaSure, or something similar. Use a sippy cup if you aren't already. I agree with everyone else that at her age she should not be waking up to eat. It's solely a comfort issue right now, not a nutrition issue. If you have to, give her a teeny bit of water in a sippy cup that she can keep with her. I've actually never heard of a child waking up much after 8-9 months to be fed multiple times in the night. During the day have you tried things like blueberry pancakes in tiny pieces, cooked chicken in teeny bits, crackers, etc? I would give her a big plate of a bunch of things and see what she eats. Offer her some of the same things regularly and she will also pick up that these are now the norm. It is good that she eats fruits and veggies, but she needs protein. At her age she will not be getting all the nutrition she needs from formula. Definitely bring these concerns to your doctor.

My daughter is 14 months old and has days she only eats bread and cherioos.. Other days she eats almost anything offered..

She was bottle/formula broke by 11 1/2 months and drinks whole milk..

She is healthy and growing normal so I try not to worry too much about her appetite.
