to be totally honest I am a nurse and I think the BPA scare is all hype but if you really are concerned i use the parents choce bottles from walmart that are BPA free and the greber clear view that are bpa free- you can tell by the bottle and squeezing it whether it is bpa free but gerber's clear view is on the list of bpa free even though the package doesnt say it and you can tell because they squeeze easy in your hands. both these bttle brands run $4.00 for a 3 pack- companies are literally going with the scare and charging way too much for bpa free when you can just get the parents choice or gerber and be fine.

I heard Dr. Browns are REALLY hard to clean. I have decided to go with the Playtex drop-ins...no BPA in the plastic drop in and soooo easy to clean!

but drop-ins are bad for the environment- just more landfill watse that won't break down.

Exactly. I actually read an article online last week re: the BPA scare on parents. It really isn't dangerous like people are assuming.

I agree~ DH works for a plastic colorants company & he said the plastic has to get hot enough to melt for the chemicals to be released~ you'd be surprised how many different chemicals are in all plastics (like the bottles of water & that) I think it's like everything else~ companies wanting to scare new moms into buying their more expensive bottles.

Anyway to OP~
I have heard pros & cons to the Dr Browns~
Pro~ they work really well
Con~ alot of extra parts to wash (which, let's face it~ there's already enough extra dishes& laundry to do with a new baby)
I plan on using soothies~ I have no ideaif they are BPA free or not~ I don't really concern myself with it, I also plan on using a bumper pad

I lOVE the Dr. Browns bottles. They are a pain in the butt to clean. My son really took to them, so I deal with that.
They also screw on the the medela pump if you have one of those.
