Preeclampsia

posted 29th Aug
Today I had a doctors appointment and I went on telling my doctor that I had been seeing black dots, had bad swelling (at that time it was just in my feet), and that I sometimes got these bad pains in my head that would leave after a few moments. When they checked my urine, they found a trace of protein in it. Usually, he said he wouldn't worry too much about the protein in the urine, except that I had gained 11 pounds in just one week!! When he said that, I knew something was completely wrong. I mean, I knew you were supposed to gain a lot these last weeks, but definitely NOT like that. Anyway, he told me that I have the warning signs of the beginning of preeclampsia. For the moment, I'm on bed rest. And hetold methat if I have any more warning signs that I should go to the ER to be monitored more closely. I have a feeling that I'm going to end up there sometime tomorrow. I just have this feeling. He also went on saying that usually at 35 weeks, that they'll either induce me or have me have a c-section because of the risk to the baby and I. I want my bun to stay in the oven as long as possible, but if it outweights my babys benefits, then I'm all for it. So it makes it all the more of a reality that I could POSSIBLY have my son in a matter of a few days to a few weeks. I have a lot of mixed emotions at the moment and don't know exactly what quite to think. But on the upside, my doctor reassured me that most babies at this point will have a great chance at surving and at the most may need a little oxygen and have a greater chance at getting jaundice. So, just an update for everyone! I'll let you know if anything changes. Or at least I'll try to! And I'd love to hear from other mothers or soon-to-be mothers that have dealt or are dealing with preeclampsia problems as well.

Hello! When I was 35 weeks pregnant with my son (first child) I woke up in the morning with a horrible headache and was throwing up. The rest of the day up untill my son was born was a complete blur. All i remember was going blind after they broke my water (blindness was temporary). I had my son through an emergency C-section and he was very healthy and had no complications. Right after I had him my blood pressure went down and everything went back to normal. I was diagnosed with Pre-eclampsia. I dont know how the doctors didnt catch it because Like you I gained weight rapidly and had very bad head aches through out my pregnancy. I am glad to hear that they are monitoring you! If you do have any bad feelings please go right to the ER. I hope this didnt scare you or anything! I just hope you get some comfort knowing that someone else has gone though this. If you have any other questions Let me know.

They're little ones, almost like little black bugs or something. I've also been seeing big white dots too.

No, you didn't scare me. It's more comforting that someone else has gone through the same thing! So when your son was born, was he okay and everything? That's my main concern. Other than that, my doctor had told me the same thing, after the babys out, preeclampsia usually fixes itself. Did you ever have pressure behind your eyes?
