That does make sense when you look at the actual root of the word. There are definitely some denominations of Christianity that use this as their primary source of "recruitment". There are also some that believe in hell, but don't use it as the ultimate reason for being a Christian. They are focused more on the rewarding life of being a Christian, serving others while on earth, and rarely have a "hellfire and brimstone" sermon.

Oooooo, nice twist! Intriging and I actually want to read it again. It can't be denied that some religions do use this method. Some families within certain religions use this method.
Same can be said for all religion, Christians don't get a free pass on trying to scare people into being good.

I agree with you that people are terrorists if they tell others they are going to hell. They might quote things from the Bible to support their statements but if they really went by everything that was in the Bible then they would know it is no person's right to judge any other person and no one on Earth can tell any other person that they are going to hell or not. If one truly believes in the Bible then they should believe that God is the only one that can judge.

Also, in my own personal opinion, you can not certainly tell someone they are or are not going to hell based on their actions or beliefs because (thanks to my Christian faith) I believe you are judged by the character of your heart.

I guess this was for Christians but I'll go ahead with my opinion.
I don't fear something I don't believe in...that means I don't fear hell or god or any of that...it's pretty nice actually.

I see a lot of churches that I have been to try to invoke the fear of hell and god intothe audianceand a lot of Christians do that too. A lot of Christians on here...can you imagine?...(see a thread in the TDC for that one).

For Catholics, WE are the ones who end up judging ourselves.. WE are the ones who could put ourselves in hell, purgatory, and heaven for that matter..

I believe the only difference between hell and purgatory is the fact that in hell, you have no escape, whereas in purgatory you do..

So its not the eternal buring (if that is infact what happens) its the eternity part thats scary..

oh and yes, i HATE people who judge others... TRUE "Christains" would never do such a thing because its not their job... As the great Tupac once said... "Only God can judge me".

off topic, but anther thing "Christains do that piss me off is pretend like christain is a freakin religion... its NOT... For example, i am christian... a christain Catholic... same goes for evengelical free, baptisit, non denominational... blah blah blah..

SHe actually said why she prays:

She's 16... give her some freaking time to develop a fuller understanding of her beliefs... geez!

You know what's funny... I was TOTALLY terrorized in school! lmao!

At my highschool in a Colorado Springs suburb (not at all far from New Life church... I actually used to go there, but that's another story...) I was told on a daily basis that I was going to burn in hell.

I honestly thought it was sad that someone would let a purely fictional concept have so much of an impact on their daily lives. I guess that's why they thought I was going to hell...
