Issues with fillings

You know the kind you fill a cavity with. I had three cavities filled last Saturday (I have not had any in 8 years and bam) and now I cannot drink cold at all on that side of my mouth and even hot bothers me a little. When I went to the dentist in the first place I was experiencing no pain or discomfort at all. Is this normal? I had to get the silver fillings seeing as how I could not afford over 200 at this time for the white.

I have contacted the Dr but have yet to get a call back (I think they closed early for the weekend)

i have some of both, and with the silver fillings, they're sensitive for a while. mine were a long time ago, but i remember it being a few months. and every once in a while i'll bite down on ice or something cold and get that little jolt. it's totally normal.

Aww, this just sucks though he told me they might be sensitive for a few days not months. Thanks.
