I did daycare for 4 years and I have two kids. I think your schedule is great. I fed my daughter 8 years ago her cereal and food right before bed, and it was never a problem. And it helped her sleep. You are this baby's mom, and whatever works for you and your daughter, you do. Even though she is your sister, what works for her baby may not work for yours, and it is your right as a Mother to feel confident that what you are doing for your daughter is what is best. In this instance, you will have to tell her you agree to disagree . You agree that you disagree on the subject, and she would do well by you to not continue to bring it up, as it will do no good. Good luck!

cearal before bed is great, fill them up so they sleep all night, the onlything i think is odd is that you feed her quite that late at night, i would do it a hour or two sooner, and giver her a bottle right before bedtime, but if it works for you why not?

My sister is eight months old and her and your daughter are on almost exact scheduls. The only big difference is my sister goes to bed an hour earlier and gets up an hour earlier. I think that if the feeding schedule does not bother your daughter you have nothing to worry about. And if it ever starts to bother her she will let you know, not your sister. Your doing good and your sister needs to butt out because she is your child not hers. Nobody will know whats better for her than you.

The "amount of formula your baby should get in a day" is an average! Don't stress too much about it. My baby doesn't get all she's "supposed" to get, and she's not losing weight! lol

The only thing I can think of that your sister may think is "wrong" is that she may think you should switch the 6pm bottle feeding and the last solid feedings around. So then solids at 6 (like dinner time) and a bottle before bed. But whatever works for you guys is what you should do! Don't let her make your decisions. You aredoing a great job. If it is working, there is really no reason to worry about changing it.

She will eventually have to probably adjust at some point to having more of the solids closer to dinner time, but that is something you don't really have to worry about yet. JMO anyways

Thanks everyone!!! I needed to hear that I'm not a bad mother for feeding her cereal 'n stuff before bed!

My sister just always knows how to feed off my insecurities, and her aggressive "I've worked in daycare and know the meaning of life" attitude makes my vulnerable cautious first-time-mother fears just explode. I was getting really ticked with her tonite for trying to convince me to "look for alternatives". I told her that of COURSE if my daughter was spitting up in the middle of the night b/c her tummy was too full from cereal 'n stuff that I'd change her routine, but for now, all's good and my daughter is healthy and happy!

Thanks for making me feel better and boosting my confidence!

mine, too.. 75th percentile, but still... chunky monkey! In my earlier post, i said my baby ate supper around 7 or 8 then got her bottle for bed.... her bottle is closer to 10 or so! so if your baby is in bed and asleep by 10, be greatful LOL mine fights sleep like crazy and most nights i'm up until 11 or even midnight with her!!!

your baby will stop eating when she's full! mine eats and eats and eats, and still wants more in just a few hours LoL Not to mention, at 8 months... if she spits up in the middle of the night, she's old enough to roll over! it's not like she's a newborn that "couldnt'" roll over. I've actually woke up a few times to my baby girl having spit up in the middle of the night.. it gets in her hair... but that's about it!  )

NEVER give your child cereal in their bottle unless your pedi tells you to for medical reasons!!! yes it can be harmful.. their tummy's are just not ready to digest it!
