Contractions - So tired of them

posted 26th Aug
How much longer is the question? My contractions from about this afternoon til now are about 10 min apart. They last about 30 seconds. Start in my abdomen and go into my back. This isn't a first for me. I have contractions everyday. They will last for hours and then suddenly stop. However, today is the first time they have extended in my back. For those of you who recently had babies, what do you think? How much longer will have to deal with this until my body decides to go into true labor? I am so tired of the pain.

You are much closer to your due date than I am.

Ask your doctor if you can be induced and baby comes out then no more back pain or contractions.

I am scheduled to be induced the second week in September but I would like to go into labor on my own. I am also having second thoughts about being induced, period. I have 4 children - my baby is 8 - and they all came on their own. I feel guilty considering it.

actually, I would suggest NOT to induce, as that causes more pain than what you're describing. Believe me, I was in agony before I was put on pitocin (the meds they use to induce labor) with my first, and once they put me on that pitocin, I couldn't even think to breathe... My mom and husband had to tell them to give me an epidural because I was in so much pain I couldn't even function.

keep trying to walk and take LOTS of nice warm showers. If your partner doesn't mind, ask him to come give you a back rub in the shower too, because that realllly helps. If it really gets to you, talk to your doctor about it. He may decide to take you early, or he may decide to give you some meds to help you get a little (well deserved) sleep before the storm.
Good luck, and keep everyone posted!

Just so tired of the contractions. I mean I have a busy life and the contractions everyday for hours don't help. I don't really want to be induced. My sister was induced with her first and I was with her - it was bad. The pain just went on and on - she said there no breaks.

that's pretty much how it is... I mean, take into account that you have time between real contractions to breathe and collect yourself before the next wave. When you're on pit, it's endless agony.. REALLY... I don't think I've EVER hurt that bad... I started shaking so bad my husband was worried I was having convulsions, because the pain overloaded my system, and I couldn't control my body.

Before all that happened thou (I was having braxton hicks like you describe for about 4-5 days prior, so bad they would send me to the hospital.) After day 3 of those painful braxton hicks, I broke down crying at the hospital, and they gave me something to help me sleep and get a little rest from the pain. To be honest, it really rejuvinated me, and I felt ALOT better the next day... I still was having contractions, but atleast for a good day or two, I was able to manage them without going insane.
