Breastfeeding and solids Question!

posted 26th Aug
Hi ladies.. I had a question and I feel really dumb.. I dont know what I am doing wrong or.. if I am even doing anything wrong... first child... everything is new but....here it is..

Ive been feeding ethan solids now since he was about 4 and a half months. weve just started giving him two meals a day.. rice cereal in the morning and vegies at night, anyway we were hoping that now hes bound to me fuller... hed sleep more through the night... he doesnt... hes STILL waking up at around mid night or even 2/3 in the morning for a feed....the way I do things are.. i boobie feed him then give him his rice cereal or vegies.. he has a play and then I'll give him a top up and he almosts always falls asleep on my boob.. I know I shouldnt let that happen but.. I dunno.. so... what the hell am I doing wrong   how do yo ladies do things??? any advice to get him to sleep through?!?!? cos.. it may sound selfish but I just want my nights sleep back
thanks for listening girls...

You're not really doing anything wrong.. I don't know why people expect babies to sleep through the night... My daughter never slept through the night (on a regular basis) until she was over a year old..

well the thing is... he WAS sleeping through till about 430 which was great on my part... gave him a feed and he slept through till about 8. and then bang it changed and hes been waking and wanting to play.. this is the thing.. we dont WANT to play at night.. we want to sleep...

sounds normal to me.  You could try "sleep feeding" I got it from the baby whisperer and it worked for one of my kids.  Before YOU go to bed, just pick them up and feed them while they're still sleeping.

Yeah my son still gets up at least 1-2 times a night and he's a week and a half away from his first birthday. They grow out of it eventually. As long as he's a little awake when he goes down that's good. My first son started sleeping 12 hours through the night when he turned 1. Almost to the day, and stayed that way.

My daughter slept through the night very early, and then she hit 4 months and it all went down hill! Apparently many babies go through a sleep regression at 4 months. On top of that, my daughter popped 2 teeth, which I'm sure makes it worse! Could your little one be getting teeth?

If he's waking to feed, he may be coming into a growth spurt... but it's really not abnormal for an infant to change sleep patterns and still wake to feed at night..

yeh ethan is 6 months on the 1st of sept. and I dont know if hes teething yet... =/ weve had signs like nappie rash which was a weird rash on on side around his penis area and be also had loose stool and a little diarea.. hes a pink cheek.. but none of these really happened at once. and hes not crabby either..
which frankly... makes me confused. lol I mean Im not worried about him.. he doesnt seem to be making a fuss
