3 month old spitting up blood! Help!
posted 26th Aug '08
Today when we got home from Best Buy, my daughter had spit up smeared on her face with bright red blood!
It checked her mouth and it wasnt bleeding, so I am assuming she spit it up!
She hasnt done it again, but oh my god, it makes me so nervous!!
What should I do? Should I take her to the hospital?

go to the ER... that's in no way normall.. it could be acid reflux. but seriously bright red blood isn't good on anyone no matter their age!

um. go to the ER.

This is not where you need to be!!That doesn't sound normal at all.

Can you call her pedi? or is there a doctor at your hospital from your doctors office on call? I would definatly call someone to see if she should be seen or if you can't get ahold of anyone take her in just to be sure that there is nothing serious wrong with her. I've never heard of a infant coughing up blood though.

I agree. I would seek medical assistance right away.
Good luck!

Call yourPedi first, he may just want you to keep an eye one it if she hasn't done it again.
But if it does happen again go to the ER right away.

Quoting Klingon_Mama:“ Call yourPedi first, he may just want you to keep an eye one it if she hasn't done it again. But if it does happen again go to the ER right away.”
Agreed.

Are you sure it wasn't in her mouth?

Uhm..E.R NOW.

Call her Pedi. My daughter cut her lip once and it only bled for a second. It might be something like that.

I'd go to ER because chances are since she is only 3 months only thing going in is formula so no chances she just ate red food. Similar thing happened to my son I saw him with red smear spit up/throw up on his face I freaked [he's a year old] well after comming to my senses I remembered he had drank hawian punch and I smelled it and it was more throw up like... but in your case her being so young just go to ER.
