alrighty, sorry it took so long but here it is... MY LABOR STORY!! well, I went in on the 17th for an induction. I had to call at 6 am and they told me to come in at 7:30. I got there at about 7:15 and was checked in by 7:30. They started me on the monitor to see if my body was doing anything on its own, and come to find out, it was! I was having contractions about 2-3 minutes apart but was dialating at all so they started me up on potocin at about 8 am. Well, needless to say, after that my contractions really began to get painful (I actually couldn't feel them before this!) So, when they checked me at about 9 am, I was 100% effaced but only 1 cm dialated. At about 10, they decided to break my water even though I was only 1 cm still. (I will never forget that gross slimy feeling)
So, after that, my contractions got even more painful and kept getting worse every hour when they would double the dose of potocin but they had changed where they were. I really wasn't having them in the front, just in my back. So at about 12 pm, I tried stadol to ease the contractions, but it only helped for about an hour at the most. I ended up getting about 5 doses of stadol but they were the same way each time. By about 2 pm, my contractions were going over the top of the charts they had monitoring. (the monitor only went to 100 and my highest was 185) At 6 pm, they checked my cervix again to see if anything had changed much and I was only at 2.5 cm and couldn't handle the pain anymore and decided to get the epidural. (my lifesaver!) After getting the epidural at 6:45, they checked my cervix again and I was dialated to 8 cm! yay, finally some progress!! At about 7, I realized that I was pushing without meaning to so they checked me again and I was at 10 cm!! woohoo!!!
After about 20 minutes of pushing, I had my little girl at 7:21 pm! She weighed 7 lbs 13 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. She's got a full head of brownish red hair and was born with bright blue eyes. (hopefully they will stay that way) I ended up having 3 first degree tears with 2 stitches for each.
After taking all her vitals,I was able to feed her. She latched on right away and ate for about 20 minutes on each breast. Then they put her in ICU for low oxygen levels but she was released tuesday morning but was then taken again that night because when they did her blood tests, her biliruben count was high. She was then placed under a uv light until thursday morning when they did her blood tests and her bili count was low again. We were then finally able to go home! Needless to say, after about 12 hours of labor and all the stress with the hopital, it was definately worth it and now I have my little girl with me.
