Induction

I might sound horrible or stupid for asking this but...

If the babys lungs and what not are fully developed by lets say 37 or 38 weeks can I ask the doctor to be induced? And what are the chances he'll do it?

Reason I'm wondering....I've had a horrible pregnancy with so much swelling and pain that i can't really do ANYTHING. Not to mention (I know it's normal but) I have alot of trouble breathing.

I think they usually make you wait until 39wks are you dialated or anything?

My dr will do it if you are 38wks and dialted 2 cm

They won't do it here, but they don't do a lot of things here so that's not saying much! Here they won't induce until you are atleast 39 weeks unless they find you or the baby to be at risk. I know it sucks, mine wasn't wonderful either, but hang in there!

Welcome to pregnancy~ most doctor's will not induce you just because you're uncomfortable~ unless there is a medical reason, alot won't induce until after your due date~ w/ my daughter they let me go 2 weeks over my due date before they were going to induce me (I had her 12 hours before my appt)

I also have swelling, a gigantic belly (12" bigger around than 42 wks w/ Kate) & I have had return morning sickness for the past 3 weeks  ~ it's no fun by any means, but honestly the symptoms you're are feeling are no different than any other pregnant women.
