Well, most of the birthing class is about vaginal delivery, but it is informative... in the class I took they showed people how to swaddle the baby, and other essential things after the baby is born that we [the class] need to know

Well, if you are having a scheduled c-section, you're not really "birthing" your baby and the education you'd get in your "birthing" classes will just be information in case you start having contractions before the c-section. Why do you have to have one?

I would suggest taking a breast-feeding class...if for nothing else...the connection with other moms will do you well.

I didn't take the classes, but i didn't need a class to show me how to give birth, it came natural, Plus when your in that much pain my breathing exercises i did learn from my mom went out the window.

Your not a bad mother, I am seriously considering not breastfeeding this time, although I am getting NO support, Because I had such a horrible painful experience with my son, I tried for a month and it just did not work out. I just would hate to put myself through that again, But its OUR decision we are still good mommies whatever we choose!! good luck!

Well, I'm planning on breastfeeding and vaginal birth and haven't taken any classes. I've decided to let nature take it's course. How hard can it be?

It's more of a cultural thing. I know you could read the books, or even just let nature take it's course...but it was kind of part of the process for me and made me feel more comfortable at my hospital...plus it was fun to see other mommies due around the same time and hear what they were going through...it was like a Live BG!

I agree. I think the experience can be very enlightening. I would have loved to attend a breastfeeding class, but I didn't sign up in time anyways. At least I have 2 SIL's and my MIL who gave natural birth to 5 babies and breastfed them all. Guess she'll just have to be my coach if I need it. Also at the hospital I'm going, they only let you go home on the 3rd day. The nurses teach you how to breastfeed and bathe your baby etc before they release you.

Yea BG is great! I've learnt so much on here. I must really sort out my internet connection at home so I can come onto here for tips and help when I'm on maternity leave.

Yes you must!! It can get a little boring when baby is sleeping always and no adults are around to talk to!
