Leaving w/ sitter for first time

posted 24th Aug
I have decided I want a night out for my birthday coming up in Sept. I am turning 22 and haven't been to a bar to drink in my life, so we're planning to gather some friends and go to a couple bars... and we want to have someone watch our daughter.

We decided to let my fiances parents watch her and all agreed that we should havethem watch her a few times before then too so we can ready her for it a little bit.

I don't think she'll be staying over night there but she will definatly be sleeping there at least half the night.

I just have no idea how to go about it! She cries if I even go to the bathroom with out her when I am there too unless she's outside playing in the yard and is too busy to notice, but I don't want to have to dropher off and not say goodbye or something by leaving while she is distracted because she'll figureit out eventually.

My biggest fear is she will cry the entire time and be scared we're not coming back, which is part of why we want to have a couple short sessions where she can kind of realize we're coming back. How will she handle being put to bed there though?

Should I drop her off after she's had dinner and a bath for the night and breastfeed her before hand?

I just need advice and suggestions on making this easier on her. Helppp!

Never just bail. That's so horrible and I hate when parents do that. As a child care provider, nothing made it worse for me than when the parents drug out the goodbyes. They'd say goodbye and then the kid would start crying so the parents would come back in side and start all over again. It just makes it harder and more traumatic for the child. Say goodbye, tell her you'll be back in a little bit and they do exactly what you said. Leave and come back in a little bit. She'll cry, and maybe for a while, but eventually she'll learn that you always come back.

Babies always cry when you first drop them off, I used to work at a day care and there was a baby that had a great time after like 10 minutes and he came pretty often but when momma was leaving he would cry. Also my friend drops her son off at the daycare for church service and he cries for a few minutes then stops. No worries, have fun for ur B-day you know it's a rare occasion

I use to watch my sister's kids so she could go out. It was an every weekend thing though. I personally think it's much eaiser if she was to stay over night. .especially if you both are drinking. It would be easier on his parents too. I would definetly feed and bath her before hand so they don't have to do too much.

I plan to keep the goodbye as short and sweet as possible. I just know my heart will break because she'll start crying as soon as I turn my back to walk out of the room

Well in that case I think she will be fine. .have you left her with them before? if so did she cry? Make it seem like a big deal to go to grandma's or something. get her excited, start talking about it the day before.

When she was 2 months old last year for my birthday, lol. She cried almost the entire time then too and his parents had to call his grandparents to come help!
