PPD

posted 24th Aug
I haven't told anyone yet, but I think I have Post Partum Depression. I'm okay some days, but others I feel like shit & everything upsets me. I hate the way I look now, and how everything is. I'm stressed all the time, and cry when no one is around for no fucking reason! I try to ignore it, and not sure if it's just stress from other things. I'm scared that if I don't talk to someone or do something about it, it will get worse.

Yes it can and will get worse if you do have it. I have it. Here is my story. I was always sad. i cried all the time, i felt like i should give my son away, that it was a mistake for having him, that i was a horrible mother and wife and i should divorce my husband. that i should just go away, i was a burden to everyone. i kept ignoring it and thinking i was just stressed and tired. eventually one day i just handed my son to my mother and walked into my room and collapsed and sobbed til she found me. i went to the dr the next day and she said that i had severe ppd and put me on prozac. i am still on it 4 months later. my son was 3 months when ni was diagnosed. i hope this helps and i encourage you to go and talk to your dr. please feel free to PM me if you would like!

See your doctor... I can say from experience that if you ignore PPD, it doesn't get better (if it does, it must take an awfully long time). I was in denial that it was PPD - but when I couldn't even get out of bed from the anxiety - I knew it was time to get help. I finally talked to my doctor after battling PPD for 4 months, she put me on Celexa, and I was back to myself in a couple weeks. I don't ever want to feel like that again.

Good luck, I hope you get the help you need - you (and your baby! And everyone else around you) will be happy you did.

Omg I love celexa, thats the only medicne I have been on that actually helped me, it wasn't ppd but depression. Do you know if you can take it while breast feeding? My doctor wouldn't perscribe it to me while prgnant

I love it too. I've taken a number of antidepressents and antianxiety meds in the past, and Celexa has been the best, IMO.

I honestly don't know if you can take it while BFing (I never BF'd). I know it is considered a Class C drug - meaning animal tests have shown adverse effects but no tests have been performed on humans (basically its effects, if any, on humans are unknown).
