Maybe we are crazy, but as soon as our daughter started reaching for our dog or cat (around 4 months old) my boyfriend and I have been trying to teach her "nice touch" or "gentle!" She may not pick it up quite yet, but why not start the behavior ASAP? She's now 7 months old and usually pats the animals with an open hand, but when she grabs fistfuls of hair we correct her and take the animals away.We love our pets too much to let them be hurt!

I used to live by this chick who had this son. This kid broke his cat's tail BROKE IT! The mom didn't take the cat to th vet or anything, so the tail ended up having a kink in it. She refused to get her mama cat fixed, so I think this cat had 2 litters of kittens. Anyhow, someone finally called animal control on her. She had to relinquish her cats. Then she asked me if I could get them back for her. I told her no.

This same boy got caught by my husband taking a stick and beating an already dead bird. I guess my husband went out there and gave this kid a 'motivational speech', if you will.

The mom was in denial that her son ever did such to a bird. Oh... I almost forgot, on the second litter of kittens, he took bug killed and sprayed the kittens with it! Thankfully none of them died and the mom joked it off as, "he was just trying to kill the fleas on the cats".

Sick, sick, sick.

Yes...that definitely sounds like a woman in denial. Sadly, she'll probably be in denial up until the point she has to get her shovel out and get rid of a body allf or her darling son.

Good for you! i agree 100%. It pisses me off when people just write their animals off bc they had a child!

Yes, because that would solve all the problems and definitely not make the cat's situation even worse...

You just called me a bitch for pointing out your stupid comment? Very mature. First of all the child is too young to understand that what he's doing is wrong, so scratching him and making him carry the punishment isn't fair. The mom would probably flip out on the cat and seriously hurt it or abandon it. And if the cat did get taken away, it would probably be euthanized. If you don't see the negative consequences of what you 'hope' would happen, you're ignorant. And FYI, this is debate and discuss, take your immaturity and crude language elsewhere. It's not wanted or appreciated here.

the cat wouldnt be euthanized no way in hell...for wat? getting its hair pulled out? they only do that if the animal is violent. and y shouldnt the kid get scratched? it will teach him a lesson since his dumbass mother obviously wont, and ur the one being rude in the first place,ur right , it is debate and discuss, and im duscussing wat i think should happen to the poor cat.

If you rescue cats, you should have some idea of how many cats are currenty homeless and up for adoption. More than 4 million animals are euthanized in shelters each year. There's a good chance that a cat who isn't kid friendly would be added to the list. You're welcome to share your opinion all you want. I'm still going to be here to tell you I think you're wrong.

What? Animals are put down all the time look at the pound they euthanized weekly cause there isn't any room if the animal doesn't get adopted right away it is put down even if it is the sweetest thing in the world. Plus how many people would adopt an animal that "scratched the hell" out of a child? Even if the animal WAS provoked, who would even know if the kid pulled the animals hair anyway the cat can't tell his side of the story.
Just for the record YOU were rude first, really rude "duscussing" doesn't including calling people stupid bitches... just so you know
