And you'd end up in prison for it.

That mother's going to be surprised when her kid starts hitting her and other people and she can't stop him.

Then what will she say?

I work for an animal rescue group (cats specifically) and it's sad how many kitties get returned because the families can't control/manage their kids - it's not a cat problem, it's a parent problem. It's a tough situation for you to be in though because you want to be her friend, but you want to say/do something w/out breaking your friendship. I've actually had people tell me that I should give up my cats (I have 3) before the baby arrives??!! - the mentality of some people is so sad and pathetic. Your friend should have more respect for life - we're ALL animals and we all feel pain, regardless of whether we can put it into words or not. You should ask her what if he was doing that to his/her little brother or sister, would she just sit back and say "he'll stop when the baby fights back" - yah right!1

When my daughter was born I had 2 small dogs, one of which was extrememly nervous. With guidance all 3 of them did wonderfully together and my daughter now has wonderful animals manners.

Geez, I can't believe this. Thats terrible my children really love all our animals. My daughter is three and she takes care of her animals almost completely by herself. My son is one so he isn't responsible for taking care of his pets but he loves them and would never hurt them. The worst he does is go up to my kitten who likes to sleep on the couch and go "MWAH" and try to kiss her but ends up scaring the crap out of her. I would never allow my children to abuse anyone or anything. They are not too young they can be taught, if my one year old knows that he has to "do nice" than this womens two year old can learn that too.

Man, I laughed so hard at the image of the poor cat getting scared from a kissing one-year-old. That's just too cute.

One of my neighbors friends.

I seriously wanted to take that poor cat home. If I didn't have two I would have. I was getting so upset. And you could tell that the cat was poorly taken care of. It was all boney looking andit wasn't a very old cat.

That is unacceptable for a child (or any one else) to do do any animal, Yes we tell our son that "If you're picking at the cat and she hurts you you're the one who's going to be in trouble not her." but that's if he's going near her, if he is caught pulling her tail he gets in shit. If he ever pulled her fur out like that (yes he's accidentally pulled some out when learning to pet her, but not chunked her) I don't know how much shit he'd be in. He's not a year yet, but he knows not to hurt the Fur Sibs, and cries if one of them is hurt. I don't know who was moaning and crying , more after the Dog had her surgery!!

We have six dogs and one of the rules right out of momma's womb is being kind and gentle to animals. People who let their children misbehave that way don't deserve to own animals period.
