Running Stitches

My baby is 17 days old and when I gave birth I got 11 running stitches (I ripped, a second degree tear), my doctor said they would disinigrate (sp?) in about 16 days. Well I know it's only been 17 days, but last night I was putting hydrocortison cream on my stitches that they gave me for itching and I can still feel the stitches and the area where the stitches are is kind of hard, is this normal? Anyone experience anything like this?? It makes me a little nervous.

it is most likely scar tissue...I had the same thing with my c-section and I could feel the hard little spot from where the stitches were, they may not be completely gone yet, I dont have hard bumps anymore, it lasted maybe 3 months.

i had at 2nd degree tear as well and mine was like that too..in fact still is hard, just cant feel the stitches..their just now starting to go away and im almost 4 weeks pp

Yes I had a 4 degree tear with my 2nd(from vagina hole all the way to butt hole) and it took them almost a month to dissolve and they did get hard down there but unless they are bleeding (from the stitches)or you are in extreme pain I wouldnt worry yet give it another week and then if no change call your dr
