hemangioma.

posted 24th Aug
I didnt know where to put this so if this is the wrong spot then my bad.
Well my daughter has a small hemangioma on her left labia. They say it's nothing to worry about that it will grow but, she doesnt need surgery because, it will go away.It bothers me soo much when I change her diaper!! It's not big but, I can tell when it has gotten bigger. It doesnt bleed or hasnt gotten infected. I keep that area VERY clean.. and I dont let anyone change her diapers unless it's her daddy. Who else has a child with a hemangioma? I know i've been freaking out over nothing but, it bothers me. Her doctor told me not to look it up online because, I would most likely get freaked out and guess what? YES, I just freaked myself out... If you child has had one, how long was it till it went away or did it. I dont want to do surgery.. I dont want a deformity down there for her even though it would be a small one. So basically I just want to know somethings from other parents not from the internet. I know a bunch about it anyway because, I had a hour long conversation with her doctor about it. I just want to see if anyone has expeirenced this?

Ha I rambled on... sorry if its hard to understand.

Honestly, if you google it you will see hemangioma's that are horrible.. so I dont know how to explain to you how my daughter's looks really.

It's like a red bubble on her skin.

My daughter was born with a "strawberry"one on her cheek. It did gradually lighten and it is *extreamly* faint right now and not noticable at all but because I'm her mommy I can see where it used to be.

She is 4 1/2 now, and it seemed to get lighter and lighter over the years. Hope this helps! I was never told any special instructions for it (my dad is a dermatogist so I asked him a million questions) other that if it changes drastically in size to let somebody know.

my nephew was mis-diagnosed with a hemangioma. He's actually got AVM. His mom's got a profile on here too, http://members.baby-gaga.com/member50934 if that worked and will take you to her profile, send her a comment. She's read/knows oodles about hemangiomas. I'm sure she could give you lots of info and treatment options.
