Does anybody know...

posted 23rd Aug
Ok so I am 36 1/2 weeks preggo and I was just wondering can you request to be induced at this point? My fiance/babys daddy lol is in the military and hes getting deployed to Iraq on Monday (not this monday but the next). I knew it was a possibility that he might get deployed but I guess I just dint think it would happen. Anyways I really REALLY want him to be here for the birth of our son but unless I have him sometime in the next 2 weeks he wont be here for it. Does anybody know if like maybe I could talk to my DR or like what they could do? Or do I just have to wait?

I really REALLY hope a medical professional would not consider an elective induction before 38 weeks.

Depends on your doc.

The baby's lungs aren't fully developed until sometime in the 37th week... so any time before the 38th week, chances are kinda high your kiddo will have asthma... I know of 3 of them born before 38 weeks, who all have it...

I'm sure there are others that are fine.... I don't know them though....

Doctors won't induce until 38 weeks without an amniocentesis... This is because it isn't safe... I suppose you could ask, and see what your OB says... I understand that you want him to be there, but if it isn't safe, is it worth it?

i wouldnt suggest it. id hope you want that baby in there as long as possible. try natural things (sex, walking ect)

really in the long run it is wayy better for your little one.

I hope that you decide to wait, after all you dont have much left and you will miss those days. When the time is right and when the baby is ready to come out it will happen. Docs can do anything these days, but think whats best.

elective inducing is not a good idea.

Let your baby bake until its done. It'll come out when its ready.

I'm doing induced tomorrow at 41.1 weeks.
Even my regular dr. & I were hesitant to decide on induction at 41 wks.
From what I've read elective induction, especially before 39 weeks, is pretty risky.
ETC*
I meant I'm getting induced...

I know how you feel... my husband is currently in Iraq, he's been gone sinse January and won't be home till Nov-Dec. So basically he was here to get me pregnant but he's missed the entire pregnancy, and he's going to miss the birth. Being with a man in the military isn't easy and you're both going to have to make sacrifices here and there, but thankfully with all the technology we have these days you can still make videos and take lots of pictures to keep your hubby involved   You can also put him on speaker phone when he gets to call so your baby can hear his voice! My little boy loves it, he starts kicking whenever he hears daddy's voice on the phone

I was 6 days overdue before they induced me.... My baby was overbaked.
