Anyone go into labor with almost no pain?

posted 22nd Aug
I've been having consistent contractions that are 5-6 minutes apart for over 2 hours now. I'm in no pain, though. None what-so-ever. I'm not really sure what to make of this. My mom thinks I'm in early labor & that's why I'm in no pain because that is how all of her labors were (we have super high pain tolerance). She would have contractions the entire day that would eventually get regular in the evening, go to bed that night, wake up early in the morning with pain, & have a baby 2-3 hours later. I called L&D to see what they thought & they told me that if they drop down below 5 minutes to go ahead & come in but until then I should try & get some rest. I just don't want to wake up with a baby at the foot of my bed because I could very easily sleep through these contractions. Maybe I could set an alarm for an hour or two & time them again after a nap?

Anyone have an experience like this?

setting an alarm would probably be a good idea.

My mom had no pain for her labor. I would set your alarm for every few hrs and see if anything has changed. Good luck.

I had painless contractions for about 5 or so hours. My water broke 4 hrs after contractions started and it took a while for them to hurt. I have medium tolerance for pain. I think it was like 5 hrs after my water broke that I asked for an epidural. I tried to wait it out as long as I could. But after getting contractions every min or 2 in immense pain, I was done. I was sitting there moaning and crying out while my husband was next to me sleeping

i went to my last dr appt august 14th and they were like hey yer 7cm go to the hospital so we can break your water, your having a baby today! and i was like.. okay... i didnt feel any pain until they gave me some pitocin to make them come faster and more regular. but even then it wasnt excruciating. just really bothersome at most. then i got staydol and an epi. so who knows if they would have felt any worse...

Well if I am anything like my mother I can expect to have a baby tomorrow morning.

I think I will go ahead & get some rest, but I'll set my alarm for every few hours just in case.

Thanks.

it was considerably easy looking back on it now.. especially comparatively as to how bad it could have been... but it still hurt like hell when it came time to push him out. i think the epi was just starting to wear off. and then i had to get an episiotomy. ouch. im still hurting from that...

Yeah he slept up until the dr and nurses came in for delivery. Right before that a nurse checked me and I was complete and ready. I told my husband that it's time and he wouldn't wake up until they walked in 10 min later! Ugh kinda pissed me off that he was able to just be calm and sleep while I had to lay there in pain all night. My epi had a partial block. I could still feel contractions on my left side, and at that point it was getting BAD. When it was finally fixed that was shortly before the nurse checked me for the last time. but come to think of it, I think my labor was pretty easy. The epi worked TOO well once I was complete. I was completely numb and couldn't move my legs. I had no idea if I was pushing hard enough lol. But apparently I was cuz Caleb was out in 30 min. Would have been sooner if I didn't have to get an episiotomy. His head wouldn't go through without it.

just curious as to what ur contractions feel like to you. Just now I got this tight feeling in my stomach and some pressure in my tail bone, it lasted about 20 seconds but it didnt hurt. I am 38 weeks as of yesterday, could that have been a contraction?
