Contraction Pain

I have been having contractions regularly for about 3 weeks, varying between 5-6 minutes and sometimes as close as 2-3 minutes apart. I have been in and out of the hospital and been given shots of Terbutaline to stop the contractions because they say through ultrasound that my son is just under 4lbs and because of other complications with my heart, they'd like to wait as long as possible. I have had an amnio, and they don't feel he's ready.

Recently, about every 4th or 5th contraction I get this horrible pain really low, almost feels like a shot of pain that hits me, like maybe his head or arm or something is hitting my pelvic bone? Is that possible, or is it something else? My daughter was born almost 6 weeks early via c-section and I never had a contraction so all of this is new to me! Any ideas of what that pain is would be helpful. Thanks!

does it feel iike a sharp pain(like somehitng is going to pop out of your urethra(qwhweew you pee from?) if so, its the head engaging. i got this towards the end of my pregnancy....from about 30 weeks on. it hurts like crazy espeacially when you're having contractions at the same time.

Yeah kind of, but I am not sure that he's engaged yet, as I was checked earlier today. The Dr said taht when he engages it will feel like a bowling ball between your legs, and Im not quite feeling that feeling. Just the sharp pain every now and then.

but hes aman and hes never had a baby  haha. every woman is different. so you may not feel the bowling ball. i once heard it described (by renee)as a loaf of bread in her vag. lol. but i serisouly thought a foot was going to po out of my vagina, or that my cervix was being rripped open.

Feels like he hits my pelvic bone or something, hurts really bad and then it goes away I don't know what it is, but it kills!

girl i know when i was having mine was in the middle of the night. i thought i was waking up from pain from him kicking me but it surely wasn't a kick!...lol
