Does it matter how long the contraction is?

I'm timing contractions right now & I know that my contraction need to be 5 mins apart or less but does the actual length of the contraction matter?





Here's are what my contractions look like right now;
Start: End: Length: Frequency:
09:38:43 pm 09:39:24 pm 40 secs 5 mins, 21 secs
09:33:21 pm 09:34:09 pm 48 secs 5 mins, 42 secs
09:27:37 pm 09:28:07 pm 29 secs 5 mins, 41 secs
09:21:55 pm 09:22:38 pm 43 secs 5 mins, 51 secs
09:16:04 pm 09:16:57 pm 52 secs

As you can see the length varies with each one, but does that matter at all?

I'd say keep timing, and call your doc.....

 

they need to be a minute long. its like 5-5-1...something like 5 mintues apart 1 minute long..i forgot what the first 5 was hahaha....anyway thats when i was told to call l&D

They say the general rule with going in is 1:5:1.
1 minutes long
5 minutes apart
more than 1 hour

But if they get under 5 minutes, you should call and see if you should go in. Good luck!

Keep timing, although I do have to add, mine weren't always one minute, occasionally they were in the 40 second range, occasionally they were in the 70 second range.

I would say call the L&D cause i was told 5 min apart is when i go in call when i have more than 4 an hour.

I was told to got to the hospital 5 mins apart and at least 60 sec in duration...hope that helps and it looks like if you follow that it's time to go to the hosptal....

Hmm. The only thing that I was told was 5 mins apart or less for 2 or more hours. I guess I will just keep timing & see how it goes. They are getting more frequent, but only by a few seconds each time.

You should at least call LD and see what the nurse says...
