Bringing Baby Out In Public

posted 22nd Aug
I just want to ask - how old is baby supposed to be before you take them out in public? My baby got a fever and had to be brought back to the hospital when he was a little over a week old. He's had some vaccinations. He hasn't been baptized yet. He is a month old. When are you planning to take your babies out in public? Our pedia recommends not til six months - but that seems like such a long time to me!

I was going to wait until 5 weeks with Dom but we've taken him to the store a few times and to my doctor's appointments. I would wait until Peyton gets settled down a bit more and hasn't been getting sick before you go out.

"He hasn't been baptized yet"

I'm wondering why you threw that in there?

How are you supposed to go to pedi appointments, get diapers, etc if you are stuck in the house for 6 months   That's insane, IMO.

I went upnorth like 2 weeks later.........went to my sisters house warming party 3 days later, haha. Just make sure to dress them appropriately, bring extras of everything, and bring HAND SANITIZER! I made everyone use it in the beginning.

If I remember correctly, I think I waited until he was 1mo. old not before that though, if anything he might have even been closer to 2mo. old. And it was strictly because I HAD to go the store or the doctor or some important errand. I went got my stuff done & took him right back home! And still to this day whenever I bring him out in public, while I don't mind strangers looking/talking to him, I insist they don't touch him!

I took Madison shopping the day after I brought her home from the hospital. 2 weeks, she had her first big family trip for Thanksgiving. It's fine.

I waited 1 week. My mom came down to see the baby and we both needed to finsh christmas (well she needed to start a week before christmas). We went to the mall but I left my daughter in the car seat in her stroller and had both canopys over her (car seat and stroller) with a blanket over them so people did not try to touch her.

Because your baby has already been sick and back to the hospital I would wait a few more weeks just to be on the safe side.

Also wait until you feel completely rested from your c-section, don't push yourself until you feel healed.
