Treating a Yeast Infection (Concern)

posted 22nd Aug
Of course, I know my doctor wouldn't prescribe me anything harmful, but I'm the woman who was too scared to take so much as a tylenol for a headache.

I just picked up my prescription, Terconazole if you've heard of it. It's a cream you insert vaginally for three days. I asked the pharmacist more questions on it, she told me with any of these prescriptions for yeast infections there are risks towards pregnancy, but when the benefits outweigh the risks doctors will prescribe it.

I tried calling my doctor to ask her more information and ease my concerns, but I can't get ahold of her and I am taking off at 5am for a two week road trip (Pre-deployment leave with my hubby to Texas)

Would it be more harmful not to treat it? I'm not even feeling anything, no itching or discomfort of any kind..I need advice...

Best idea I have is to go ask a pharmacist. They should know all the stuff about any drug that your doctor does. There should be at least one 24 hour pharmacy around. Go see what they say.

that's what boosted my concern.. the pharmacist told me it's a 'type c' or whatever.. and antifungal, and with any of those there are risks towards pregnancy..

hence my whole second paragraph...

If you want to try and treat it naturally, eat a lot of yogurt and take acidopholus.. This helps to kill off the excess yeast and then keep it under control..

hmm.

see i told my mom about my concern and she was like, "if you're worried just apply it to the outside" but of course, it says to insert it as far as comfortable INTO the vagina..

then my mom said, "don't take it at all"

but I'm not sure if that would be worse than taking it...

If you don't treat yeast it's just going to spread..... You can treat it naturally..

i did find this though.

Pregnancy—Studies have not been done in humans for use of all azole antifungals during the first trimester of pregnancy. These medicines are safe and effective when used for at least 7 days during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. However, check with your doctor before using this medicine during the first trimester of pregnancy. Also, use of 1- and 3-day treatments may not be effective during pregnancy.

and you are in the 2nd trimester so i would think its okay to use it. i doubt your doctor would give you something harmful........i hope not at least.
