Weird false labor?

posted 22nd Aug
Sooo, my last doctor's appointment was wednesday and i was only 1/2 cm dilated, but 75% effaced and a -1. I had been having contractions 5-7 minutes apart for the past few days before that for a couple of hours, but they would eventually taper off and stop. After telling my dr. that wednesday, he wanted me to come back that night for an induction, since baby is already over 8 lbs and he thought i'd be good to go after some cervadil overnight. I asked if i could wait, since i want to try to go on my own, so he agreed to let me go home and just come back Monday to schedule an induction for next week. Then, thursday morning, i began to have some blood tinged mucous discharge. It was streaked with bright red, so i knew it wasn't from my exam the day before, but no contractions, so i just waited. About midnight, BAM! Contractions started coming all of the sudden every 2-4 minutes so i told my husband i didn't think we should wait to time them for an hour, they're already coming so close! I got in the shower and he timed my contractions the whole time. By the time we got to the hospital (i live about 25 min from my hospital), they had been coming every 2-4 minutes for almost an hour. the weird part is, they didn't hurt as bad as i thought they should have. I get to triage, and they hook me up to monitors and check my cervix. long story short, i stayed till 4:30 and only progessed to 1 cm! She called my doc and they said i could stay in triage or they'd give me ambien and let me go home until the contractions got stronger. I was so tired i said "i'll go home!" Took the meds, slept until about 1 and then got up and went walking. Still having contractions about every 5 minutes, but they just don't hurt that bad. I am so frustrated right now because i can't tell if they're just going to stop all together or if this is really it and it's taking FOREVER. Seems like real labor should be getting WORSE by now, but it's also weird to be having contractions like this if it's not labor. Ahhhh! Anyone heard of something like this? Sorry it's so long. I'm just really confused and would appreciate any ideas/thoughts on the matter.

Yeah i knew something was going to happen with my son but those stupid retards didnt want to listen to me and kept sending me home. Well the last time the nurse came in and told me your not contracting regular i looked her dead in the eyes and went im contracting every 5 mins or so lol then immidately had a contraction right in front of her and she looked at the moniters and she was like i dont see it so she moved them adn come to find out i was contracting every 3 mins   They were going to send me home cause i wasnt having reg contractions!!! Good thing they didnt cause i had him that day. Just be persistant and tell them how you feel its your body and you know it better than the dr does!!

I had a similar situation. Had contractions that started out being 10 minutes apart for about 10 hours then they got closer together (about 5-6 minutes apart). At this point we called the doctor and were told to head to the hospital. When the nurse checked my cervix i was 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced. The contractions continued but there were no changes in dilation so they ended up sending us home after about 5 hours at the hospital. The contractions continued and got slightly more intense over the next 8 hours beforebecoming very irregular and lessintense. By this time it was bedtime so I decided to try and get some sleep. I was not woken up with contractions during the night but when I did wake up to go to the bathroomI would have a pretty strong one. This morning the contractions have basically stopped all together. Obviously I dont want my little one born until she is good and ready, but what the heck? You'd think regular contractions for a day and a half would mean true labor but I guess not. This is my second child and I did notice that the contractions were not as painful as they were when we headed to the hospital with our first child, but they were close together and regular so i thought for sure that it was time. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens...

That sounds like what I'm going through right now, it sucks cuz the contractions hurt but I don't want to go in and get sent home
