Question about teething...

This has probably been asked a million times on here, but about what age do babies start teething? And how will I know when my daughter starts teething? I hear babies get a bit fussy and they drool alot.

The reason I ask is because my daughter is 2 months old and she recently started drooling. Also she gets like streams of saliva that shoot out of her mouth, sometimes it will literally shoot, other times it will just dribble down out of the corner of her mouth. I asked her pediatrician about this, and she said it's too early for her to be teething and the drool/shooting saliva could be from an overactive salivary gland. I felt her gums and I thought I felt a little bump but I could be wrong.

Is 2 months too early? And how do you soothe a teething baby?

The actually cutting the teeth USUALLY is later, not always... but they can feel the discomfort of the teeth growing under the gums for months!! Aidan started at around 2 1/2 months... we tried the Infant Tylenol to the .4 mil line and some Oragel, also cold pacis and teething rings (didn't really fit in his mouth), cold washcloths... sometimes it will help briefly, sometimes they just need to be comforted.... not a fun time...

How long does it last for? Like does the fussing go on for days on end?  

its never too early to start teething.. i had 2 teeth by the time i was 2 months old, my son has been teething for a while now.. he's cranky, drools, and had runnimg stools.. his gums are extremely white and very hard.. my pedi said he is teething.. some babies are even born with teeth.. my best friend's son just turned 1 month on the 8th and he already has 2 teeth.. the first one came in a couple days before he turned a month and the 2nd came in some days after.. so no its not too early..

Aidan's usually lasts for a few days... then goes away for a couple of weeks, then comes back... I'm pretty sure we're in the homestretch now since I can see them now under the gums instead of just some swelling and redness...

I'm definately not looking forward to it..... hopefully it will be as painless as can be for my little girl. I hate seeing her in pain. Watching her have her 2 month shots done killed me!

Now is it always the bottom 2 teeth that come in first? Or does it just depend?

I think generally (those are what are coming in for Aidan right now) but I've heard of some babies getting the top ones first...
