I started offering water in his sippie around 5-6 months old. No more than 3-4 ouncesa day. Now he is one and drinks about 8-10 ounces a day.

I agree with the Dr. No juice. My gma gave my little sister soda and her baby teeth were not in good condition when she was younger. So if soda contains sugar and fruit juice contains sugar and the baby is not brushing their teeth then it could cause you to see the dentist sooner than later. IDK? Just my thought. I guess it wouldn't hurt to give some, but I don't think I would.

Im glad im not the only one not giving juice! Both sides of my family think i am crazy..Oh and chocolate or strawberry milk!!!! Omg my entire family on my moms side have a bad habbet of starting them with it...and they will not take plain milk now!!
Ok. i so didnt want that!! I have only gave josiah chocolate milk a few times and just a small enough amount to taste it!!

my family disagrees with me on a lot of things and they often try to go behind my back. i have had to lay the law down, they probably all think i'm super-mom-bitch but oh well. my son is healthy and happy!

I don't think that they "need" water at 6 months. I think that formula/breastmilk provide all the hydration they need at that age. I do give my son water out of a sippy cup when he's eating his baby food. (It would be a pain to take him out of his seat and nurse him a little every time I thought he needed a sip to wash down the food... lol.)

Hey not sure if I told you or not but Daniel started drinking juice at 5 months and it was a problem so I started giving him less, but always kept up with it, and he's obvisouly you know over 2 and drinks straight water and drinks juice too. He even asks for it on his own so I don't think drinking juice at his age will lead to him not drinking water when he's older. My opinion, mommy knows best! See you tomorrow!

Yea, Nicholas loves his juice too much so I give him 5oz. a day.....2.5oz of water mixed w/ 2.5oz of juice.   See ya tomorrow girlie!

I haven't decided yet (solids and liquids other than breast milk are a ways off yet!) but I think if I give my daughter water only it will make me a hypocrite O_o I HATE water with a passion. I drank it while pregnant pretty much because I felt forced to... I drink apple juice mixed half water, half juice myself... And it seems like it would be kind of funny for me to tell my daughter juice is for mommy only ^^;
