Breast Feeding

posted 22nd Aug
I'm Planning on breast feeding my baby. I'm a little worried about it though. I've heard from some that they couldn't do it long, and they hated it. Will it hurt that bad? I'm a first time mom, so I was just wondering about some of your experiences with breast feeding. It would help alot. Thanks!

Pumping hurt for me. So i would imagine it would be the same feeling with a baby actally doing it. I couldnt keep my supply up and quite after about a month of pumping.

Personally, I didn't feel much pain. Yes, there were days when I just wanted to take a shower without having a baby attached to me or days when I thought my nipples would fall off, but they were few & far between. I've been doing it for 11 1/2 months now & don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

It's something that you should give a shot & see how YOU like it. Can't really base it on everyone else's feelings or opinions because it truly is different for every woman.

It's hard at the beginning, but even with all of the problems we had
(not latching, tongue tie, thrush, nipple shield) we stuck with it and it was worth it.

It doesn't hurt that bad. You're nipples will be sore until your little one gets the latch right. But it's not too bad...be sure to use nipple cream.
Engorement also hurts, but it's temporary. Once the baby gets the hang of nursing, you won't experience engorement as often.

Some women (such as myself) just have personal issues with breastfeeding. I wasn't educated enough about it, and didn't have the best support when it came to BFing, so I quit. I felt a little guilty about it, and plan to give it a better shot with the next kid. But BFing isn't for everyone now matter how hard they try at it.

Best advice I can give is try it. Give it your best shot. It might hurt at first, but you might find it worth it.

I have been breastfeeding for 11 weeks, and I honestly have never yet had a problem with it. I haven't yet really had any pain, and only at the very beginning were my nipples sensitive. They gave me Lansinoh Lanolin at the hospital, and it was great.

The first two weeks were rough for me but I stuck with it, and now it is getting a lot better, and so worth it for the health of my little one.

It never hurt me. Well, when I got thrush it did.
Everyone always told me , if it hurts your not doing it right. But I think that depends. Yes, its hurts when the baby isnt latched right. And a lot of women go on trying nurse when the baby isnt latched right, until they give up because it hurts so bad. But, I think also it might hurt for some people even when the baby is latched right. And I mostly think that because I hear so many people saying it hurts, and its hard to believe that many people wouldnt be latched right. Hard to say.
My best advise is to breastfeed right after the baby is born. And have the lactation consultant , or nurse there, to be sure baby is latched. Dont give baby bottle , or paci , until it has got used to your breasts. Goodluck

I couldnt BF my daughter is very badly tongue tied meaning she couldnt latch,I pumped but my milk dried up within a month plus it was only 2oz everytime I pumped and my daughter was a little piggy and couldnt live off of that.

I'm happy,my daughter is happy and that's all that matters.

You should at least give it a try . . . It's totally worth it for the baby. I'm not due till Nov but I plan on breastfeeding. My mom BFall three of us. She said it hurts at first but it gets better. You just have to get past those first few weeks. Try to read as much as you can about BF and ask any family members about their experience. Take a class if you want and make sure you take advantage of the consultants at the hospital to help you get started. Good Luck!

It doesn't hurt!!! However, it can be really hard to start. You just have to be determined!!! Also, I would plan on both pumping and BF.

People can be idiots... and sometimes it's hard (and stressful) when your baby wants to eat and your in the middle of the store... hiding in the bathroom isn't always the most appealing idea...

It's worth it for your baby, and once you get it down pact it can be VERY rewarding!

Breastfeeding does hurt in the beginning but only because you and baby are still learning. After a couple of weeks, it will become second nature.
Basically, if there's a will, there's a way!

I've been bf''inf for about 9 1/1 months now and it's amazing!
There are endless amounts of benefits of breastfeeding (everything from losing your baby weight quicker to having a healthier child!)
