Mentally Challenged

I was thinking about something.... And its not against mentally challenged people.What do you think about mentally challenged people being clipped or have all reproductive organs gutted. Or every mother having a mental evaluation before letting a child go home w/ the parents?

If she has a history of mental illness, she should have an evaluation before taking the baby home (and possible monitoring at home with the baby).
But I don't think she should be 'stripped' of her reproductive organs. That's just cruel.

Yes I believe thats what she is asking.

I think she is asking if you think that mentally challenged people should have to be "fixed" so they can't have kids.

I think that if someone can not take care of their kids they have to be proved a unfit mother bc any action is took.
  Some ppl have problems and can not help it..i think if its under controll that they are fine. Im sure we can all be crazy parents time to time...

if a severly mentally challenged person that can barely take care of themselves, how are they supposed to take care of a child? i think every situation is different adn there are so many different levels of 'mentally challened' being stripped of your reproductive organs, i dont think, is not the rightway about it. there areother ways that im sure couldbe work better at keeping the person childless.
eta: andyes, an evaluation should definetly done in everyone of these cases

I have to disagree because there is such a wide variety of mental problems out there. And sometimes people with severe people are already afraid to pass it on so they never have kids, but I dont feel someone else should decide for them to not have kids

why wait until they have the baby and are about to be sent home? they should be checked during the pregnancy and have a social worker assigned to see if they are actually capable of taking care of the child. Have you seen the movie I Am Sam?
Or hell, maybe I've gone completely a different way from where you were heading with this question???

Hey these r not beliefs I was just throwing it out............

My sister had DS and he dont have any kids..but she is awsome with them!!
If her body could handle it...i would love to see her have kids..
She is "mentally challenged" or what ever ya wanna call it..But she should never be stripped her rights of having babies.
