low Progestagen??

I may have that word wrong....
I friend of mine is about 5 or 6 weeks pregnant and her doctor called saying her levels were low. The prescribed her some medication that she has to inject into herself everyday. I never dealt with anything like this so I am not sure what all of this means and she is freaking out. The nurse told her that this could possibly be the start of a miscarige. Anyone have experience with this?

Low or decreasing levels of Progesterone and/or hgc can indicate a miscarriage, but doesn't necessarily mean she will miscarry. She should take the shots her doctor prescribed, and hopefully all will be well. I wish her the best!!

I had low progesterone too. They gave me a shot then prescribed me pills. They told me that I was just slightly low. I ended up having to change doctors and my new doctor doesnt check those levels. I've read that if your levels are too low that it can cause you to have a miscarriage.

My last pregnancy I had very low progestrone levels and I didn't go see a doctor till I was about 4 months ( I had no idea I was pregnant. )At 5 months I ended up having a misscarriage. This time around my doctor prescribed me pregestrone shots and I've been on it since I was 16 weeks. Im happy to say I am almost 34 weeks. Her doctor is doing the right thing.

Using progesterone is the only way I am able to carry to full term. With my daughter I was using pills and with this pregnancy I was using vaginal suspositories. I know there is one you can inject with a needle, but that is not my cup of tea. They say the suspositories are even more effective because it gets the juice right to the spot!
